Lets help stimulate the economy...Part 2
after dropping my son off at art class I was driving home and passed the homeless shelter and soup kitchen and I decided that instead of splitting the payroll tax credit 3 ways, I was going to do 4 (small amount, but every little bit helps) and the 4th way I am going to buy extra canned goods etc when they are on sale at the local grocer (and I do MY extra stock up) and donate them to the soup kitchen, I think I will work on making blankets for the shelter (maybe knitting some socks too), hats, gloves etc. as I feel it is only right to give back as well (and these places are hurting). This fall when the grocer had their stock up sale, I bought 2 cases extra of everything I bought as our church and school does a food drive and I always do my part. Unfortunately, my best friend lost her job last summer (has 4 children and her husband makes very little) and had no food for Thanksgiving, so I told her to come "shopping" in my pantry (she was floored at all the stuff I had...my walk in pantry is 12ft by 8ft with shelves from floor to ceiling on 3 sides, not to mention my professional size freezer) and she took what I was going to donate, but as I told her as bad as things are, she needs it just as bad as them. We also donate 3 turkeys to the soup kitchen at Thanksgiving (we have done this for the past few years). Does anyone else have any ideas of how we can use part of the tax cut as a 2/fer and help people that need it? Take care and God bless.

One thing I have always done is to take advantage of when stores in my area tripple coupons up to a dollar, or when I get a coupon for a free item. It has always been easy to get coupons for pet food, brands that I don't feed my dogs, that make the food free or pretty close to being free. I use those coupons and then donate the food to the animal shelter. I do the same with personal care items and donate those items to homeless shelters, food pantries, and when the school collects items to send to soldiers, etc. I do the same when I get a really good deal on laundry detergent and toilet paper, things I figure people will also need. I also like to get the little toy stocking stuffer things and hats and mittens after the holidays, when they are 90% off and donate those the next holiday season. The food pantries in my area will include those items in the boxes of foods for families with small children.
