    Default "My Obscure Skills" Game

The "25 things about me" sharing game was so much fun, I thought we might try a similar one.

Please post any obscure (or obsolete) sklills you might have.

Two of mine are: I know how to churn butter and ret flax (turn flax into linen thread). I learned these working a couple of summers at Conner Prairie Pioneer village in Noblesville, Indiana.

    Anybody else?

I can read lips really well.

As a bartender in my early 20's I learned the very useful skill of tying a cherry stem into a knot with my tongue.

I'm a cooking school instructor, so that area is pretty much covered. I am making homemade extracts. Not frugal necessarily, but I'm a great shot and love going to the range. Oh, and I can hang drywall, change my oil or a flat tire.

I have the ability to milk cows, machine or by hand! My grandmother owned a dairy farm and when we visited you had to help!! I can also drive a tractor!!! My dad being a farm boy taught us girls how to do many things!! I can bail hay and alfalfa (sp?). Now I am able to do these things, yet lived in the city for a large portion of my life, so techinally the skills are very, very unused, but I can do it!!

Since my husband become disabled I have learned to do many things I didn't think I could do. I can lay new roofing on the barn, I can change AC filters, wire in a new AC motor, change car oil, tires, and wipe blades. I can lay new flooring, move furniture alone, lift more than I should, take care of the house and yard. I can make my own furniture, window treatments, stop drafts in the house by adding foam around leaky doors, I can do some plumbing, some building, service the lawn mower, tiller, and winterize most things and try hard not to have to ask for help to get most things myself. It has also helped my daughters to be more independent and learn new skills that they wouldn't have otherwise known how to do. I can cook, bake, can, and do household chores without a problem. I can round up stay animals that find their way to my yard, help birth puppies, save stray kittens, and rescue unwanted pets until my yard and house overflows with happy healthy critters....

I can lace a corset, and I know how to wear one.

I am an expert on using a "biffy" while wearing a corset and hoops.

I know how to play bocce.

I've gotten pretty good at baking without dairy products or eggs.
