Default Stockpile comes in handy... we're okay.

I'm in one of the areas hardest hit by the ice storm. My yard is littered with broken limbs. Fortunately, we sustained no major damage.

Our town is devastated. Power has been out in most places for five days. We were very blessed to only lose power for 45 hours. All of our neighbors, except my brother's family are without power.

The grocery stores were without power for several days and trucks haven't been able to deliver because of low hanging lines and safety issues.

Our local resources are taxed to the max. I believe that McD's (where I work) is still closed, but I can't reach anyone via phone and today is the first day I'll be able to drive out (this afternoon after more melting takes place).

But, my family is fine. We were well supplied for the power outage. We have now taken in another family and have had no trouble with food or heat. Our stockpile is barely dented at this point.

I expect it will be wiped out before this is over. They are saying it could be several more days and even weeks before we are fully restored. I imagine town will be back up by Monday, but outlying areas will take longer.

My brother and his family stayed with us until power was restored in our valley (a miracle, since we are remote) and he has now taken in his in-laws for the duration.

We will check on our neighbors tonight and offer our home for showers and a hot meal.

    Stay warm.
