Default AHHHH!!!! I have created a monster...

More and more I was getting the feeling of being cramped in this house.
    We have SO MUCH STUFF!!!!!!
Everywhere you look, we have stuff.
The problem is that we cannot really throw any of it away since we got a LOT of it from my mother in law and - in her words - is worth quite a lot of money.
Well I said to my DH that I was getting sick of not being able to turn around anywhere and we should just move house.
I even looked for a new house and worked out what we would have to pay.

LIKE A RED FLAG TO A BULL.

My DH loves this house and never wants to move (well at least for a long while) so he has started clearing out with a vengeance.
Even a lot of the stuff that we got from his mother is going - OK no family heirlooms but extra stuff.

We have literally ten of adverts on marketplace and with a bit of luck we should get a nice sum of money to pay down the mortgage.
Our living room is starting to look a lot emptier than it was this morning.

As Dave ramsey would say- sell everything but the kids.
But you know what the funny thing is, it seems to be contagious.

2 of the 3 kids living at home have done the same thing. They have had a good clear out too.
I have created monsters....... (money making monsters!!!!!)
In my opinion it's only good.

You're gonna feel like you have so much more room once you get it all cleared out. You'll actually feel like the house is 'bigger'. Enjoy! Now, I need to do the same thing

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

    Good for you!

I had a lot of "stuff" from my MIL that they left here or gave us that I held on to for years. After she passed we got rid of tons of junk.

Maybe some of the "valuable" items can be put in storage? After MIL forgets about it, it can be tossed or sold.

You will fall in love with your house all over again. My MIL is famous for using me as her dump. She can't bear to throw something herself so she gives it to me. I am NOT a packrat in fact I'm the opposite I hate clutter so I will throw the stuff I'm not going to use for her. She has finally started telling me "Throw this if you want just don't tell me." We have a huge commercial funnel cake deep fryer that she gave us that I am storing in our garage I just listed it on craigslist for a price she would freak out about BUT I am sick of storing it, we're not going to use it (it's for fairs, rallys etc) and I just want it gone. I feel your pain!

I had to learn the hard way that you don't have to keep something because someone gave you something, it was expensive, or it is just something you have always liked but no longer is working for your lifestyle.

Once you figure out less stuff= happiness things are so much better lol!

I tell people, esp my Mom , don't keep that just because I gave it to you!!!!

Darn I need to do this, especially the garage. Dh and I have a deal, what I haven't used in a year, and is stored in the garage, he can get rid of as long as he doesn't tell me
