Thank you FV for your concern
I wanted to thank everyone for their concern during this trying time. I have been overwhelmed by the posts and the pm's asking how we were doing. I have also been in contact with other Kentuckians, trading stories and seeing how each other is doing. I knew I could learn a lot from this site, I just never expected the friendships and comraderie that would develop.
I would like to encourage those who don't to visit the Stockpiling section. Although we have always done some, I learned much that helped us through this. It is nice to know you have all that you need before anything happens. I want to learn in the way on things that would have made us more comfortable. It is easy to more on to wants after your needs are met. Remember, in my area, the meteorologists were still predicting a little ice and three inches of snow even after it had started. No one here knew of the severity of the storm that was approaching us. We would have been out of luck had we waited to get what we needed.
Again, let me thank each and everyone of you. Your concern for my family (including my dog) was really touching.

Glad you are surviving the ice & snow!!! Here's hoping the power guys from around the country can get your state and others up and running with electricity in no time. I remember a few times when we were without power from a few days to a few weeks due to ice, snow or straight line winds and it really does bite in a big way...but, after a few times you know what to do & expect.

Good to hear you're all okay! All of my friends (not from here) think I'm crazy for stockpiling, but I bet they'd come around in a disaster!
