Stress Test Gone Wrong
Some of you know that I had an episode recently that may have been a mild heart attack or may have been gall bladder. A round of testing (EKG and ultrasound) showed no abnormality in either. But my doctor wanted me to take a stress test, which was scheduled for yesterday morning at 7. About 3 minutes into the test, the doctor suddenly halted it, had me lay down and gave me 4 aspirin. He then made plans to transport me to a city hospital for an emergency cardiac catheterization. He said he had never seen such a dramatic rise in blood pressure, nor such an erratic printout of the heart while I was walking the treadmill.
So I spent the rest of the day and half the night in the hospital. Now I'm home, but have to stay flat on my back or in a recliner, or stand up. I have strict orders to do nothing, lift nothing. And I have to watch for signs of bleeding. They opened up the femoral artery in the leg, and doctor said that I could bleed to death in 15 minutes if the wound would break open. Comforting thought!
The good news is that they found the arteries to be clean. But it leaves a question of what went on during the stress test.
If you think of it during the day, I'd appreciate your prayers.Spiritual:

Holding good thoughts for you today.
Stress tests are scary. I had one last year, the threadmill, and then imaging the next day. The threadmill showed some mild abnormally, but then the picture part showed everything okay. They put me through all this, because my breathing was not where it should be. But I think it all comes back to my severe case of sleep apnea. Some days I am good, some days I struggle, depends on how good a nights sleep I got.
Have they done any heart pictures yet, or are they going to ?
Bloodwork ? Any other tests ?--------My signature--------

That is scary! I hope you are feeling better today and I pray that all is going to be okay from here on out.
All of my magazines have articles about our hearts this month and they point out that women tend to be misdiagnosed when it comes to heart issues. Have you gotten a second opinion yet?"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

They did the same thing with my ddad during a stress test. In fact, they told him later that he'd actually had a heart attack during the stress test. That's even sort of what a stress test is (!?)...to see how far they can stress you before you start to have 'problems'. Seems to me that there are easier ways to diagnose heart trouble. I hope you feel better soon after that cath.
Glad they found no significant blockages....but that leaves some unanswered questions, doesn't it....?
Keep looking for the answers.....I still think (being the doc and all....lol) that it was an episode with your heart that night. Hang in there.........

Sending good thoughts your way today and will keep doing so until I hear you have a clean bill of health!
Glad to hear that they found the arteries clear, hopefully it is nothing or something minor that you can take care of!
Stay off your feet and try to relax! I know you hold spirituality in your highest priority, so put it in God's hands (while still listening to your doctor's advice) and all should work out!
