was this a compliment to me ????
so i've been having this on-going battle with our utility company for our 'closed-up for the winter' cabin....some of you might remember me ranting a few weeks back about them charging us for electricity usage on a place where the breakers are shut off... so anyway that is a whole 'nother rant that i will bore you with at another time....
so dh is having it out with the company again (coz amazingly we got another bill of usage)...and the rep tells him that perhaps we could visit their 'site' to learn about how to save energy..(i don't know how much more you can save when you aren't even there- but whatever)...and he tells her "oh my wife is the most frugal person you will ever meet" she says..."well sir..one can always pick up a new tip or two..it never hurts to look"..and he says....and i quote:
"my wife DOES not need to visit your site to pick up any more 'frugal tips'...i'm pretty sure she WROTE your manual....my microwave is on a power-strip, i have to plug in my tv to watch it...and if i time things JUST right i might hit the 20 minute window where the hot water heater is turned on and i got a hot shower".... he says the lady just laughed and laughed.... do you think they are laughing 'with me' or 'at me'.....haha ahhh...who cares.......

At you hun, at you ! But I still would consider it a compliment. Have you been to the cabin to make sure that nobody has moved into it? Just a thought, maybe a homeless person discovered an empty warm place to live.

Oh god, yes, if they aren't actually reading your meter then they are just making numbers up. They do that lots of places and so many people don't even know it.
It was a pain to have the city put in a new water meter last summer, we had to move all kinds of things in the garage for them to do the work, but they can read it from the street now. Before they couldn't get to it at all.
Hope you get yours straightened out soon.Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

They're laughing at you...but you'll have the last laugh, when your laughing yourself all the way to the bank!
Could be that they are estimating your meter...even when it says they aren't. There was a news story here about a man whose electric bill was $10K for a month!~ It was absolutely ridiculous, and of course it was a mistake...I don't think the electric company apologized or took any blame, but they did fix it!

well they are 'reading' the meter (so they say...) but we FINALLY caught them in a lie coz according to 'THEIR' records the meter actually swung backwards 97 kw one month....got ya ! so they are finally admitting that MAYBE something could be wrong with the meter (thou they DOUBT it) and they are sending someone to check it out...yea..right...we'll see...it's a loonnnggg drug out saga....but we aren't idiots and i think they are finally coming to that conclusion and they know they better knock it off....WE will get them yet....and THEY will owe US before its all over...you'll see...we had 2 yrs of records for them to explain today...and they can't.....

Stick with it, someone will pay in the end, and it won't be you!! I think sometimes people forget that there are people in the world who keep better records than them!! Keep the battle going and let us know how it turns out!!! Good Luck!!!

Wow, if I were you I would keep on them. They know what they are doing is wrong, you know what they are doing is wrong. Eventually they will have to pay for THEIR mistakes!!

Here here! Had an example of that yesterday...I went to the McDonald's drive thru (yeah, I know, not frugal), and, just minutes before noon, they still had their breakfast menu on the sign. At this McD's you order at the window, so I mentioned that the sign was still on breakfast. The lady said she knew, and it wasn't going to get changed because it was too cold out and no one wanted to go out there to change it. Now, it wasn't really that cold. Yes, we have snow, and I don't think it was above freezing, but it wasn't THAT bad that you can't put on a coat and go change the sign. So when she asked what I wanted, I said "Nothing. I'm going somewhere else. They need to change the sign. You can tell them I said that."

I agree. I don't think she was laughing at either of you. But what your dh said was funny, whether you're frugal or not.
