Ahhhhh... Ummmm..... Coffee!
I am enjoying my first cup of coffee in 72 hours. No, make that 73 hours, but who's counting?
Monday morning I was not to have any caffeine after 7 am, so that it had time to clear my body before my Tuesday morning stress test. Then of course, Tuesday I was not to eat or drink before the stress test. And the way Tuesday turned out (flunked the stress test and taken directly into the cardiac unit for a heart cath), I didn't get any coffee at all. Oh, but I smelled it in the nurses' station! Yesterday, I just didn't feel up to making coffee. So this morning dear Hubby brought me a cup of coffee in bed before he left for his early morning class. Bless his heart! I just sat there and inhaled that glorious aroma, cupping my hands around hot mug. And then I savored every drop.
That's my coffee story for today. What's yours?Spiritual:

I am in love with coffee. I am already on my second cup.
What is your favorite brand?
I really like Newman's Own organic fair trade coffe with the vanilla caramel flavor.
If I don't buy that, I have been buying New England Coffee in their Vanilla or Hazelnut flavor. It is cheaper and isn't organic or fair trade, but it is very tasty.

Well my coffee story goes something like this!!
This morning at about 6:30 I came out to make my morning nonfat latte, and as I was pulling the tupperware container down from the cabinet that I keep my ground espresso in, it dropped. It opened and went EVERYWHERE!! I salvaged what I could, but the finely ground espresso went everywhere!
So, I clean it up best I could, and then proceeded to make my latte (hey, priorities!!). Then I got my kids up, fed, and out the door. Then I pulled my vacumn cleaner out and cleaned up the rest of the mess....all is well now. But I'll need to make a trip to Starbucks for more espresso a few days earlier now, since I lost some of it in the process. Ahhhhh, I think I can handle that!

I don't drink coffee because it's makes my stomach hurt, but I LOVE the smell of it!
When I was little my grandparents lived on a farm. When I would visit them my grandma would get up really early (like 3:30 or 4am) and go downstairs. She would put on a pot of coffee (she used the old fashioned stove-top perculators) and wash the dishes. I would wake up to hear her clanking dishes and smell that coffee. She drank coffee all day long, no matter how hot it was outside. She passed away in 2005 but even now the smell of coffee brings back sweet memories and makes me think of her!
How are you feeling today forHISglory? I hope things are better today!Last edited by WV_mom_of2; 02-05-2009 at 09:53 AM.

My grandma was the same way, but I don't think she got up quite as early. There was a super secure feeling about laying in bed at Grandma and Grandpa's house and hearing the early morning noises from downstairs and smelling the coffee. All was well......

I make a non-fat latte every morning to start. Then, later in the morning I make a cup of Starbucks Sumatra with a little milk in it. I don't make a whole pot or I'll drink it and it's too much caffeine.

My coffee story...more like a romance novel, lol!!
Here in Louisiana coffee is major. When we are kids some parents give us, "coffee milk". A coffee cup or demi tasse of milk with just enough coffee is slightly color it. Made me feel like an adult.
So, move forward to adulthood. My husband and I love, love our coffee. When Hurricane Gustaf hit in the fall, we were without power for 2 weeks. We needed some since of normalcy so we used a propane burner, a cast iron skillet and coffee filters to make coffee. It was an adventure, but we got it done.

I LOVE my morning coffee. I need at least one cup every morning or here comes the caffeine withdrawal headache. I prefer to have two cups though.
Dh gets the coffee maker programmed to make it first thing in the morning. I never have to make coffee during the week
I get up and there it is, waiting for me.

My morning coffee story starts a lot earlier than I wanted!!!
At 5:45am this morning dd-1 woke up and started crying, took her into my bed to try to get her back to sleep, I am barely done laying her down when ds comes in "mom I had an accident", of course dd is now fully awake, dh is getting up to go to work, and ds is trying to get new underwear on, while I change his bed sheets!! We all go downstairs and the first thing I do after I turn on cartoons for the kids is make my coffee!!!!! That was the only thing I could think about this morning!!
After the smell was in the air, I went downstairs and started the peed laundry...LOL...the joys of being a mom!!! Now I have to say that I have had a pretty productive day thus far!!
I don't drink coffee often, but when I do I drink the Folgers French Vanilla, it a little can and last me quite awhile!! I also put creamer in it, whatever flavor sounds good at the time!!!Last edited by momof2joys; 02-05-2009 at 10:54 AM.

My grandma used to let my kids drink the last little bit of her coffee out of her Grandma mugs when they were little(she put alot of milk in hers). Or she would fill their sippy cup with milk and add just enough coffee to turn it colors and let them drink it. When my ds was little he loved to go to Grandma's and he would always ask for his cup of coffee when we got there LOL.

Well, I try to program my coffee maker most nights before bed, but I did not do it last night. So after my dd woke me up this rainy morning, I cleaned and got my coffee pot ready to go. I'm drinking Costco's Kirkland brand decaf (roasted by Starbucks). I take mine w/ 2 Splendas and Half & Half. I love the smell!
I have a Cuisinart Grind & Brew. My dh got it for me for Christmas 2 years ago. I love it! I've been using whole coffee beans ever since.

Enjoying my second cup right now. I try to stop after that but some days I need more. We drink plain old Folgers and I love it. I like French Vanilla Cappichinos (sp?) when we splurge but they are just from the gas stations and nothing fancy like Starbucks.

I got up to let the feed and let dogs out so once they were out I grabbed my coffee stein and headed for the brew master. 1/3 of a cup came out and then that dreaded gurgle started. You know the gurgle. I knew in my heart that there just wasn't any more in the pot.
Today's full pot of coffee is a mix of Almond Royal and Friendship Blend. The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.
