from what i understand from the news this morning that just means that the state will get re-imbursed 75% of their storm clean-up costs from the federal government.... whether they come running in droves to 'physically' help with the clean-up will remain to be seen....

Arkansas is AR. Not AK. It happens ALL the time.

    But, yes, it's about time.

We were declared a disaster early on... 1/28/09.

so?????? What more help do you expect us to receive?

The 75% is correct. And, do you really think FEMA has an army of folks waiting to physically swoop in and help with the clean up? Really? They don't. Never have. It's not their purpose. State and local groups are responsible, but will get reimbursed for this extraordinary expense. And, taxpayers in the areas effected can deduct some of their expenses related to damage from the storm...
    What more do you want?

The entire power grid was wiped out in my area and over 1,000 extra utility workers are working 12 hour shifts to restore power to everyone. They are doing the best they can and we are doing fine... no horror stories here in one of the worst places hit (hey, we made the NY Times with this story). Yes, we still have about half the folks without power, but everyone is helping them out.

I missed a week of work because we could not get out of the drive, and we just got power on last night after being out for 12 days. I feel very fortunate..........there are still some people who won't get power until sometime in March.
