I'm in a funk......
Do you ever just feel like you are in a funk? These last couple of weeks I just feel like I want to give up! We are pretty deep in debt and it seems like every time I get a plan in place and get things moving to make it better for us, something goes wrong! It's depressing and sometimes I just want to give up! I'm in a place right now where I just can't seem to make myself care about anything. It's warm here today and I should be hanging laundry out, but I just don't want to. I have bananas going bad and should bake them into muffins, but who cares if they rot??? UGH!
I had a plan for our tax refund. Pay off a loan, then work this summer to pay off a couple of credit cards and a small loan, etc. Well our town requires us to be responsible for over a mile of water line. This line is NOT on our property, it runs through corn and hay fields in the farm behind us. We had a major line break in December and this past weekend had to dole out over 700.00 in water bills and for repairs to the line. So now the loan won't be paid off with the refund(and we didn't get back as much as last year either) which means I will work this summer to pay it off. Which of course means the two credit cards and the small loan will have to wait! One step forward and two steps back!
We had a rough year last year and got behind on a house payment. I am working to catch it up by paying an extra scheduled amount each month for four months. That leaves us with NOTHING each month. It has to be done, but it's depressing to have no extra money.
We have had several people suggest that we should file bankruptcy but I refuse to even consider that. We ran up the bills, we are going to pay them back. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but some days it feels like I'm walking in place instead of getting closer to the light!
Enough whinning from me LOL. I have to hold it together here and sometimes I just need to vent and get it out of my system! I know that things could be so much worse and I thank God every day that we are holding up as well as we are.S

Hang in there Sherri. We all feel that way sometimes but every time you make a payment, it is one payment less. Remember that! You are doing great girl! Cheer up, get outside and sit for a while and enjoy the day.

i think we are all feeling pretty much like crap right now...life itself can be depressing at times and now this economy and the general mood and outlook of most people you meet each day is getting worse all the time.... hang in there....i hear the disappointment and aggravation in your post but more importantly i can 'read' that you are a survivor and that you will get a handle on this...it may take some time...and there is always 'backsliding' at every turn it seems... but like you said... one step forward...2 steps back....at least you were able to make that one step forward....and you may be moving in place right now...but you are still able to SEE the light at the end of the tunnel...it hasn't gone out... keep moving towards it....you WILL eventually reach it.....

Gray winter days don't help either. Even if it is sunny today you still have a sunlight deficeit. I hope you are feeling better soon.

One of the ways that helps me feel better in situations where I feel out of control is to DO something. So go make that banana bread and hang that laundry. Force yourself to get out in the sunshine. Make a list of things you can do to trim your budget even more. Start planning a garden - good exercise and helps on the food budget. I know you are pretty frugal, but try to trim some more. Get started being proactive. Hopefully it will get you motivated to keep being proactive. Hang in there, it is hard to get out of a funk, but you can do it.

I know it can get you down but hang in there. It will get better and everyday find something to smile about or laugh about. Also if you can take time to get lost in a book or magazine or take a hot shower. Sometimes I think if you can pamper yourself just a little bit it helps.

I think we all feel that way from time to time... You're having a rough go of things...but it will turn around. Take a day 'off' and just veg out, play with your kids, go for a walk... You can hop back on the frugal wagon tomorrow.
And venting is healthy!! Helps get the stress/pressure out of ya! Vent away!!
We're all here for ya...keep your chin up...

I'm sorry you feel like this. It will get better.
If it relaxes you to put the laundry in your drier, than do so. There will be another day when feel happier and you'll want to hang it to dry. Wait for that day to come. Don't worry about the bananas. Throw them in the freezer for another day when you have more energy as well.
That's very admirable.
Whine and vent away. We all have those days when we want to let it all out. That's why a lot of us are here...to support and encourage one another. An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

I had a similar thing happen last week. Dh had a dentist appt. and the dentist didn't ask, just did crazy amounts of work that ended up using all of DH's dental benefit (for the year!!!!) and we had to pay the difference, it was like $300+. That money was going towards our student loan, but now its not. I was so p****d off for about a week. But you have to roll with the punches and know that you can always cut back somewhere else, even if its only $5. You'll make it up at somepoint and the debt will get paid!! Just hang in there!
Debts

#1- Student Loan #1 - PIF!!!!!
#2- student loan - $5834
#3- student loan - $4900
Cc - PIF!!!
Total Debt
10734/33900 = 23166 paid!!!
Savings
2500/1000 - BEF fully funded!!!
