Every dollar store I've been to has never had anything for just a dollar. They round the items off to the dollar but I've never seen any stores that are $1 for anything in it.

This goes for both the places I've lived in in Canada and the US, which is basically the East Coast and Alberta.

I've not seen $2 items at our Dollar Tree. BUT I won't be surprised. There are still many deals to be found but you have to know your prices.

Dollar Tree still has everything for a dollar, but we've noticed there are a lot of things they just don't carry anymore, like the 5-pack of Slim Jims they used to have and certain other things. I suppose their margin was so narrow on those items, they just can't carry them at $1 anymore.

We have two so-called dollar stores here.....

One is called the "Dollar Tree" and everything is $1 then we have a store called 'The Dollar Store" and everying is rounded up to the next dollar so for instance $1, $2, $3, $10.

I love the Dollar Tree though. It carries alot of items and it is still just $1.

Dollorama has everything for $1. The other $1 store in the city still has everything for $1.

We have had a couple $1 stores close though.

Our dollar tree has stopped carrying a lot of things like little debbie cakes, packs of chicken thighs, ect. But this weekend I noticed that they were selling premade valentines gifts where they combined(at the factory) a bear with candy(candy box sewn on for $2) and a bear with his hands clasped around a glass filled with plastic flowers and a balloon for $6. Then they had examples of how you could make a basket yourself from dollar store lotions, ect. for $9!

Our local super fresh has this valentines deal for $9 that is a little valentines day day cake, a balloon and and rose all done up with babies breath and greens. I'd much rather have the super fresh valentines then the dollar store one. You've really got to watch your prices at the dollar store, sometimes their deals are not deals at all.

The Dollar Tree is still at $1 for everything, but I wouldn't be surprised if this changes soon.

We have Dollar General, the Dollar Store etc, they have never been only a dollar. But the Dollar Tree is only 1.00. I haven't been in awhile to look though.

I remember when Deals changed their sign a couple of years ago...it used to say in a little banner under the Deals name Nothing Over a Dollar. Then they changed it to something like Too Good to Pass Up (Deals too good to pass up).

Dollarama here used to only charge a dollar for everything. My Dh went there last week and there is now a sign on the door that says that some items are now priced at $1.25 and up.
