I Need Help with This Recipe!!!...
I started a meatloaf recipe and noticed that I'm missing one ingredient. What can I use instead of 1/4 cup of corn syrup. My meatloaf recipe calls for 7-1/2 oz of tomato sauce, 1/4 cup of corn syrup and 2 tbsp of prepared mustard.
I'm supposed to mix it with the rest of the ingredients (egg whites, finely chopped peeled apple, chopped onion, fine dry bread crumbs, worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, nutmeg) and I don't know what to use in lieu of it.
Any help would be appreciated!An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

I am guessing Honey would work. It is sticky like corn syrup as well as sugary.

I agree that honey would work instead of corn syrup.

I think you'd be safe leaving it out or just adding a little sugar instead.

not real maple syrup, reg reguar syrup would be best! Good luck, let us know how it turns out.Does it have to be real maple syrup...because I don't have any. I do have Aunt Jemima pancake syrup--the cheaper stuff.

You can probably just leave it out, and use some extra tomato sauce on top.

if you haven;t made it yet....you could even make the syrup
2 parts sugar (brown or white)
1 part water
boil on stove, when disolved add a bit of maple flavouring (and/or vanilla)

“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Thanks, everyone. I ended up replacing it with regular pancake syrup. I'm bringing it to my parents' tonight, so I'll let you know later how everyone liked it.
