This is Waay too much fun!
My daughter and I went to the library to make photocopies of some things, so we had pockets full of dimes.
When we got to the library the meter maid was there and looking busy, so my daughter and I put a dime in every meter that was within 5 minutes of expiring.
Man, that was one cheesed off meter maid..heehee. She has a "route" so she couldn't wait the extra 10 minutes to ticket people.
Whoo Hoo..question authority! Stickin' it to the MAN..Ok, maybe it was petty and VERY UN-frugal, but it WAS the most fun I've ever had for $1.50.
And..it's all your fault you nice people..I got the idea BECAUSE I'd seen this thread Wednesday!

That is too funny! I love watching Parking wars on TV, so you know that they get ticked off when people do that!
I would have done it too!

What do you mean, not frugal? That was cheap entertainment! You and your daughter are going to enjoy that incident for years to come!

awesome! what a great example you played for your daughter today... that is definately 'paying it forward'....
forget what the meter maid thought....what you did deserves a 'pat on the back'.....(and no not coz you 'stuck it to the man' but coz you just taught her 'random acts of kindness').... great job mom !!!

If you do that where I live believe it or not you will get a fine. I always thought as long as theres money in the meter it didn't matter who paid. They also chalk your tires to see how long you've been parked, If more than two hours you get a ticket regardless of the money in the meter. If you've been there too long you risk having your car impounded. I have already just put the dime in the meter and not turn it. The meter maid has to check and see if the meter is functioanl before she tickets you so she ends up putting money on the meter. If you want your dime baack you just tap the back of the meter. I would just leave it in there.

If I was her I'd have been cheesed too. She probably had to work an extra hour to make up her quota of tickets for the week.

It seems I've read or heard that it's not allowed to do that here either - I don't know if it's true. And they also monitor the length of time you've been parked in the downtown area. At least that was true when I worked there several years ago.
