    Question Ordering contact lenses online

I am wondering if anyone has ordered contact lenses online and can recommend a reputable place that they have used. There are many and I'm trying to narrow it down. I use the extended wear kind that last about 6 months to a year. I used to get them at Costco for about $15.00 each contact. Zenni Optical doesn't carry contacts unfortunately.

    Thanks!

I have used both 1-800-Contacts and VisionDirect dot com, both are good and reliable. My Rx is cheaper at Vision Direct so thats where I've been ordering them lately. You can go on their websites and check prices before ordering. GL

I've been using xcontacts for a good 5 years now. I haven't price shopped different sites in a while, but at the time and the last time I checked they offered mine for the least amount.

Just an FYI... I believe contact lens manufacturers are doing away with the long term contact lenses...the ones you wear for 6 months to a year and clean every night. There will be just the daily, weekly, 2 week and monthly now. I was just at my eye doctor and this is what she told me. (no idea if it's true...I wear daily contacts) You may want to check with your doctor to see if your brand is still available. I use either visiondirect or aclens.

I just ordered from 1-800 and they shipped the next day. I find them really convenient and reliable.

I get mine from Costco... About $23? for a box of 6. I checked into places like 1-800-contacts, but by the time I added in shipping it cost more (that could be because we're clear up in Alaska and they gouge us for shipping even though it's the same rates with the postal service...grrr).

I love 1-800, they have been awesome to work with. My son's left lense was on back order, and because it would take a few extra days ( ended up only being 2 days) they did the shipping free and over nighted it to boot at no cost. They really are great to work with.

If you have vision insurance 1-800-contacts isn't very practical. I tried ordering from them, because I was running out of contacts. They wouldn't fill my order because my prescription had expired the month before I ordered. I ended up going to the eye dr. for an exam and then I ordered my contacts while I was there.

They were going to charge me $132 at 1-800-contacts for my prescription lenses.

The Dr.'s office with eye exam, contact fitting, new prescription, same contacts (updated script) cost me $136. I only paid $3 more and I have a new prescription and he made sure the lenses fit when they came in. It might be worth it to go to the eye dr if you have the vision insurance.

Oh, I hope they don't do away with long term contacts! I can't imagine why they would do that. The disposables are much more expensive! I don't have vision insurance. I wear Ciba vision (Cibasoft) lenses and love them. They are inexpensive, last a long time and work great. When I have my exams, my eyes are always healthy and no problems.

I'll be checking into all the companies mentioned. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

I used to order from 1-800-contacts and weblens.net, but I had LASIK, so it's been awhile.
