Hello again!
Hi everybody!
I was just telling my DH that I had been a member of FV for almost seven years! WOW, time sure flies! I have been pretty busy since returning to school in the fall of 2007. I will receive my Associate's degree (Liberal Arts) this summer.
I now have a part-time job at the community college where I am a student. I have also been doing some public speaking on the subject of coupon shopping. I have plans to write a book on the subject when I am through with school, I am just too busy with homework right now.
Some may be surprised that I am now a minister in the Universal Life Church (non-denominational). I am mainly a "wedding minister", but have been learning about many faiths, so that I can tailor ceremonies to a diverse clientele. I find Buddhism fascinating.
I am in the process of starting my own business, as a frugal life coach/personal shopper/wedding officiant. Many of my coupon seminar attendees have mentioned that they would like me to just "do their shopping for them" because they don't want to be bothered with hunting down deals, finding coupons, clipping them, filing them, etc. I will see if there is any genuine interest in such a service. Even with my fee, they should still see some savings, if they take my recommendations on what to "stock up" on each week. I will provide the coupons, and they get the coupon savings.
I had been racking my brain for small business ideas, and DH kept telling me to just "do what I do best", and he knows I am one heck of a bargain finder. I save anywhere from 40-97% on every trip to Dillon's (Double coupons everyday).
The wedding officiant idea came about as I was helping my oldest daughter plan her wedding. DH and I were married in a courthouse ceremony, but I felt there needed to be a frugal alternative without spending the U.S. average of $28,000 for a WEDDING. I will marry couples in their home, a park, any location (within the Wichita, KS area) of their choosing. I am even happy to assist with ideas for keeping costs down for the rest of the wedding and reception. I think there just may be a need for such a service, and with my job at the college, I meet many people on a tight budget.
The college has even asked me to teach a "Frugal Living" class on their "College Free Day". This is open to the community at large, and there is no cost to attend.

Oh wow, you sound like you've had quite the bit on your plate! I'd love to be able to do seminars and the like, but I hate public speaking and I get nervous all the time.

It's good to see you around here again and let me tell you, this place is full of all sorts of awesome as of late.
