I'm right there with you...
it AMAZES me when I see a week + worth of groceries and not ONE fruit or vegetable and the entire cart is either frozen or sweet/salty. So, no it is NOT just you...and I don't LOOK, I just glance...intensely
Take care and God bless.

I definitely look in other people's carts. I don't say anything but I do think: how can you eat like that? or wow you must spend a fortune on groceries or no wonder you are overweight eating like that. How bad is that? Again, that's what I think not what I say.

I peek... but I peek for a purpose

I don't want to admit the number of times I started to walk off with someones cart!
Back when I did my OAMC, I did my OAMShopping, so I had a LOT of (whatever) but no fresh things because I still bought fresh milk, fruits and veggies as needed. I did get a lot of strange looks when I have a months work of dead something or another in my cart, but not much of anything else.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Yes, guiltily I do. The other day though I was shopping for a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and I had like twenty big packages of Hershey Bars (each boy got one for participating) and 6 liters of soday (for floats) I know I got looks that day!

I look in other people's carts and wonder how much longer they'll be around before they have a heart attack or something. I can't believe how much crap is in people's carts, especially when it's in excess and nothing has any resemblence of nutrition to it.
People want to look at me all weird for buying two weeks' worth of groceries? Oh well.
At least the stuff in my cart is more homemade ingredients and less ready-to-eat crap.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I'm actually paranoid now about people looking in my cart precisely because I know there are people out there that are thinking this. I often have a cart full of junk and nothing else, but it's because I shop at multiple stores and have lots of stuff at home. I might look like I am feeding my family nothing but junk for the week when in fact I bought my produce somewhere else, have a freezer full of meat, have a pantry full of ingredients, and just happen to be stocking up on junk that is on sale at that store.

I don't tend to look, unless I'm behind the cart in the check-out line. Then it is just because I'm bored.
I *have* had cashiers tell me, on occasion, that I eat healthy, so I guess *they* look!!!

i have actually had people at the check-out give me 'dirty' looks when all i am buying is fruits and veggies and wheat and soy stuff (hey-i'm a vegan...i can't help it)...they look at me like i think i must be 'holier than thou' or something....
so i'll grab a bag of m&m's and hand them to the cashier and say i'll take these in my purse and i will look at them and smile (and then go feed the candy to dh)....

Yep I'm guilty too! I normally look to see if they are holding coupons & see if I missed out on any tremendous deals......lol. I don't stare the person down, I'm just curious. It just astounds me to see people with a cart full of freezer stuff. Having 7 kids, it would be too expensive to buy all freezer stuff. Plus its alot better if you make it by yourself, than buy it frozen. My deep freezer is full (I willa dmit there are pizza rolls in there), but alot of meat, bread, butter, yogurt, lunch meat, cheese, milk, etc. I keep some freezer stuff like pizzas, burritos, etc for fast easy meals on busy evenings.

I don't deliberately look, but it's hard not to see it being unloaded from the cart in front of me in the checkout. But I have to tell myself very firmly not to jump to conclusions.
Like some others, there have been times when it looks like I eat nothing but bread and pasta (don't I wish I could!). But I have all the other stuff at home already. Or there was a super sale on frozen entrees, and I stock up. I don't eat them all the time, but they are great to grab for work occasionally if I don't have easy leftovers. The people seeing me unload the cart on those days are probably thinking I eat very unhealthy things, or that I am wasting my money on frozen prepared food, when in reality they are seeing only a small piece of the pie. And if others are buying very expensive things, well, maybe they just have tons more money than I do, or perhaps it's for a special occasion and not their normal shopping list at all.
But, yeah, it's not easy to keep from thinking "What are you doing with all that! Don't you have any sense at all?"Donna
