have you always been the same way or have you gone from one to the other.....

Pack rat. Never use to be, but started about 10 years ago after a divorce.

people or things.

Boy this is embarrassing...BOTH.
I have boxes and totes and bags etc..All VERY neatly organized in one side of my basement.
I recently stripped a 1993 jeep Cherokee for spare parts for my other 1993 Cherokee. (found one EXACTLY the same color and everything, realized the potential for savings on parts and bought it) Now there are dozens of spare car parts, NEATLY wrapped, labeled, and shrink wrapped organized on my garage shelves.
My closets burst with clothing and accessories (I'm a fashion recessionista) all of them Neatly organized by color, season, and level of dressiness.
Yeah..definitely both..it's really tiring constantly organizing my excess crud...Last edited by Thevail; 02-19-2009 at 02:04 AM. Reason: spelling

I am dead set in the middle. I am not a complete neat-freak nor am I a pack-rat (unless I find an awesome sale!) so yeah...

I am mainly a neat freak with a little pack rat thrown in. I like for my house to be super organized and straight but I also hate to get rid of things that I can use or making something with in the future. I keep stuff stored in boxes in my basement or on shelves.

I'm like Thevail I'm Both!
I've got tons of stuff but all neatly organized and in labeled containers. I keep lists of things and pass on to others when I come across stuff I know they are looking for. My biggest problem is unfinsihed projects but I'm working on finishing many of them this year. I promised myself that I wouldn't start anything new til I finish up some projects. So far so good.

I have too much stuff and probably always will. I've been working on purging stuff this winter and am getting things under control and better organized, and that's been going well. So I have aspirations of becoming an organized pack rat.

I am definately a pack rat, but would love to be something in between. Too much frustration being a pack rat and for me too much stress to be a neat freak

I'm a pack rat, neat freak wannabe... I have gotten a lot better over the years. I am hoping this move will help me rid myself of more clutter.

i have to say neither...
i am a minimalist - so i own very little... but maybe that makes me a neat freak? cuz things sorta look neat - but i dont consider it neat cuz it's not always organized! lol

This would be my answer as well.
There are certain items that I won't do away with, but only because they hold a sentimental place (such as the outfit that each child wore home from the hospital).
But I don't hold on to much to be honest, 'cause after 18 years of marriage & 10 moves (being active duty Navy), I've learned it's much easier to clean, move & live in a clutter free existence.
It just makes me 'feel' better.
I'm not one of those that has to vacuum everyday, or dust weekly, but things are not thrown down & things are kept in their place.Michelle in middle Tennessee!
Ever so slowly rebuilding my stockpile...
