greatest achievement so far....
so what do you feel is your 'ONE' greatest achievement or accomplishment in your life so far....what are you the 'proudest' of...
i think mine would be my conviction to being a vegan...i made a decision 27 yrs ago to not eat the animals (vegetarian for 15 yrs-vegan for the rest)....and i have not swayed from that decision (in spite of alot of grief from family, friends & society) though it has gotten easier thru the years.... that's my big one....

Mine is raising 2 great kids.
On a personal level it's being a survivor with so much loss in my life and coming out strong & healthy with a positive happy outlook on life.~*Darlene*~

Raising our kids. Even though they have all gone back to their birth families and most of them have embraced the negative lifestyles they started life with, I feel we at least gave them a chance at normal, successful lives. They've squandered their chance, but at least we stepped up and gave them an option.

I haven't had any kids yet, so I can't even compare to you guys.

My greatest accomplishment so far has been recording a CD. It was a dream come true. I'm proud of that accomplishment and feel bless to have had the opportunity.

Like everyone else I am proud of my children but this would be a boring thread if we all said the same thing
Something else that I am very proud of is becoming a nurse. I became a mom in my first year of nursing school. My DH and I supported ourselves through those years working at fast food restaurants. We went through some very tough and lean times but we managed.Carrie

They told us our youngest would never read, never write, never do math at any level of a funtioning adult. They believed he was beyond hope and would have to be put in a group home. They gave us no hope, they expected nothing from our son except for him to be a burden on tax payers.
We pulled him from school half through kindergarten when we decided if they didn't believe in our child we did. Many years laters, much strapping debt later, AND LOTS OF PRAYER AND GOD"S INTERVENTION LATER our son can read, and write and do math, and fairly well I might add. He is as normal as anyone else. He still is behind in school but will have completed 12th grade (with passing grades and while keeping up with the other students) when he is 21. He now attends an online charter school after 7 years homeschooling.
Recently he ran into his old kindergarten teacher and her amazement could not be hidden. She kept saying, "I can not believe it, You're normal!" He told her all of his achievements and the things he has been up to and she just stood there and shook her head, telling him how glad she was to run into him and WOW! I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU ARE NORMAL!!!! I think he was a tad insulted.
She believed we were doing the very worst thing for him that the school had seen hundreds like him and they knew best. Best for them was a group home and dumb as a rock. Best for us was a normal functioning human being who would one day read, write, and be able to do math well. It just took a lot of non-conventional doctoring, boatloads of tutoring, and parents who refused to give up on him.
That right there is my greatest achievement to date. When he goes on the graduate from college with honors that will be just icing on the cake.Last edited by pollypurebred39; 02-21-2009 at 04:39 PM.

I have also raised some good kids....but I am proud of the work I have done at my school. We are a very poor school, with a growing homeless population, and so many families that are struggling. We are sucessful in spite of everything saying we shouldn't be. It is the best thing to see the look on a child's face when they finally "get it."
