Default Out of the mouth's of DH's

Here's one for the record. I told DH I was going to tell all of you about this. He didn't fuss so here it is.

Friday, I came home from work and made my usual oblivious-to-anything run to the lav. I finished and there was a cardboard roll and 2 sheets left (#999 and #1000) of the 1000-sheet roll on the TP dispenser.

I yelled for DH to come to my rescue. He yelled back 'It's behind you.' I looked, and sure enough he put a full roll on the toilet tank behind me.

I asked 'Why didn't you change it?' He said 'There was still some left on the roll.'

LMAO in his face. He thought it was funny. So did I. 2 sheets! That's a lot left for a reason not to change the roll!

Anyone else have a DH who comes to the rescue like this?

BTW, this is only a small sampling of DH-isms in my house!

Well, you could say he was being very frugal by not wasting two sheets of tp! Didn't we have one FV'er who rationed her kids to only one or two sheets?

You just reminded me of an old joke.

Question - "How many men does it take to change a toilet paper roll?"

Answer - "No one knows, because it's never happened."

Oh, yeah....this is the story of MY life, also. I live with dh and occasionally with the adult DSs. Every one of them will leave a new roll out on the counter, back of toidy, or right on top of the old almost-empty roll..........but not change it.

Cute. At least he left you the refill.

I eliminated this problem once and for all. When we moved into our house ten years ago, one of the first things I did was recycle a kitchen cabinet by cutting it down so it's more shallow than normal. I put that over the toilet and it holds a couple dozen rolls where it's always convenient. I added a shelf on the top to make it look more finished. It fits below the bathroom window and with enough space above the toilet tank that if we need to work on something in the toilet, we can. It's worked out great.

    Men.....grrrrrrr
I guess if there was a TP-tool they would do it. But since there isn't a tool that will work they don't know how....even if you show them how its done!! They will leave it on the cupboard, stack it on the empty one, and leave one sheet on the roller no matter what.

Just the opposite here: DH always refills the one in the guest bath. I just get a new one out and lay it there. He doesn't leave the seat up either

I trained my sons early on how to change a tp roll. They do it. But whats hard for them is to get the empty roll into the trash can.

my dh continues to throw the empty tp roll into the trash....even though we have recycled for years....so i just keep pulling them out...

and now that the tp rolls are becoming 'peat-pots' for the seeds they are even more valuable to me.....

    will he NEVER learn ????

It seems like I am the only one in this house that knows how to put a roll of tp on the dispenser, rinse a dirty dish & put it on the counter, empty the trash & put in a new bag, rinse the recyclables and put them where they belong and clean the cat box...for some reason the male gene makes them able to look right past all of these things...IMHO.

I would obviously make a good DH (if nature had planned it better). In my single bohemian life, I never ever put the TP in the holder. Why? I would just have to take the empty roll off and put a new one on. That's making work. It's perfectly happy sitting there on the edge of the tub or on the top of the tank. I guess I should be mortified by this, but I'm not. I seldom have visitors, so who's to care?

That doesn't mean I don't sympathize with all of you who have to have more publicly presentable homes and train children - and oblivious DH's - to do the socially appropriate thing!

This thread is funny...regardless of where I go, I don't care who's home it is, I crack open the new roll, install it and place the roll with those few precious squares left on it, vertically on top. This way it gets used THEN tossed/recycled and the new roll is ready to roll hahaha.
