Thread: your age....

I'm 34 and a lot of people think I'm in my mid-20's. I think it's because I look younger than I am, I workout a lot, I dress kind of funky, and I don't have kids.
A few months ago, someone asked me how long I'd been with my company (3 years) and if this was my first job out of school. Not by a longshot...lol!
Then last year someone told me when I first started here, they thought I was from NYC (web production & funky clothes) and was married to an older guy with $$$ (diamonds & fancy car). I hate the city and I met my husband in college, we're the same age.
Perceptions are funny.Last edited by The Muse; 02-24-2009 at 01:04 PM.

I'm 32 but a lot of people think I'm in my mid-twenties. I probably don't act like a 32-year old, but I guess I'm not sure how a 32 -year old should act.

This year alone, people have guessed I'm 15, 16, 17 but really, I act mostly like my parents, except I play computer games while watching TV.

I just turned 27, no wonder I can't get any respect, everyone thinks I'm a TEENAGER! O_______o

I just turned 39 and everyone is shocked to hear that LOL. I also apparently hide my weight well. Noone can believe how much I weigh when I tell them.
People that come to the park where I work are always asking me how old I am. Last summer I decided to turn the tables and when they would ask I would say "how old do you think I am"? I got everything from 25 to 30. People can't believe I'm old enough to have a 13 and 16 yr. old.
I act older than my age most of the time. I had a rough childhood and have always had to be responsible and mature. I never really felt like I had a childhood. I think I've been an old soul forever LOL. I've never been drunk, never tried drugs, never stayed out all night, never snuck out of the house, etc.
That being said I can cut up and sing and dance and have fun. I love to act silly with my kids and make them laugh. I have a great sense of humor, when it's appropriate.S

I'm 31 (32 next month)... Most people think I'm anywhere between 24 and 28. Just day before yesterday a girl I've been studying with (college) went slack jawed when she found out my age...she thought I was 24.
I smile a lot and am a big kid so that's probably what "throws" people. Though, I've been through enough trials I feel way past my 31 years...
I think age is something to be proud of. Hollywood is who pushes the "young is best" crap. Not that young is bad...just that ALL ages have something special about them...and we should be proud of the years we've lived!

I think that people could guess my real age now (mid-50's). I've cut my hair shorter, am letting the gray grow out, and don't bother with makeup as much.
Prior to the last couple of years, I kept my hair blonde and longish, painted on my 'face' every day, and was a bit thinner, and was usually mistaken for a lot younger.
Now, I don't mind looking the age I am.______

I think I pretty much look my age but I don't give a rip.
I'm soon to be 49 and feel really great, actually about 20 years younger than I did 4 years ago. That's all that matters to me. That and my health....

As far as 'acting my age' as I compare myself to most of our friends I don't think I really do. I'm much more active and able to do more of the fun things in life like to slalom water ski, scuba dive, workout really hard, etc.... . I think in that respect I'm holding up pretty good.
