We had to contact the doctors office and explain the situation, so on Thursday we were finally able to get the Oncologist to prescribe more AND I told the pharmacy to NOT allow ANY prescriptions to go out under my signature. They are "supposed" to flag his scripts and are only able to be picked up by my Grandmother or my Father in Person with no exceptions. So, hopefully this will prevent any future occurance.

There's one thing you need to remember here. Folks with a drug or other substance problem are NOT sane. They're being driven by the drug of choice, whatever it is. Expecting them to react normally is human, but will not get you anywhere. Trust me, I know this from long, bitter experience in the past.
Anyway, you did the right thing. But you do need to remember that this person may have simply sold the drugs for $ or may have a drug problem. If it's the latter, then they are not rational, and all the worry and fussing and trying to understand that you do won't change it.

Keep your head up!

You did the right thing girl!!! Jane is angry because she is guilty. She does have a problem that needs to be addressed. I assume the pills are probably oxycodon. They are the drug of choice nowadays for the younger generation and are very addicting. She needs to get serious help. Good luck with everything and don't feel bad. You are not only protecting yourself, your grandpa but also helping Jane (even though she won't realize it yet). Keep us posted on how it goes.

You need a pat-on-the-back for a job well done! No one should take anything from a man that is sick and in need of his meds. And you had no choice but to CLEAR you name over all this stuff. Many people would sweep it under the rug and just let it slide if its a family member, and that is wrong! To forgery is a HUGE crime, and no one should get away with it not matter what they are trying to get, drugs, money, whatever. I think you did the only thing you COULD do, and SHOULD do. The laws are made for everyone to follow, not just some people, all people have to follow the rules......
I say "way to go", crime is crime and we are all responsible to see to it that it is stopped, be it a family member or friend it has to be stopped to protect the innocent people like your Dear Grandfather!
Be proud, you done such an wonderful thing for your Grandfather and I am sure he is proud of you!

Yes you did the right thing anyone that would steal pain meds from anyone needs to get caught. She might have sold them I've heard you can get $10 a pill for pain meds.My daughter knew a woman that prentended she had bad back pain just to get meds to sell for $10 a pill. One day when she went to her Dr. appointment they drew blood, came back none of the drugs were in her system. The Dr. then knew what she was doing so wouldn't give them to her anymore.

From someone who is taking pain meds I say absolutely let her hang. Let the police do what they need to do. Unless you have lived in pain day in and day out, you can't understand how difficult life is to live without pain medication. For someone to do this to someone living in pain is uncompromisable. This is the reason (drug abuse) why being in pain management gets a bad name. People just assume you are an addict because you get the meds. I am glad my Dr tests me and am glad that if it turns out to be Jane she needs to do the time and get some help.

You did the right thing. Do these family members not care about Grandpa at all? Jeez! He needs the medication. I guess Jane would rather get high than help poor suffering Grandpa. I mean, crap, what would have happened if the doc hadn't agreed to refill? Stupid girl! This makes me mad!
Anyway, I hope that your Grandpa's suffering is eased as gently as possible. My Grandma died a few years ago of stomach cancer and I know what you're going through. She was my sunshine! Take care of yourself. Don't take these nutjobs' abuse! You did what you had to do to protect your Grandpa. If I was there I'd tell them a thing or two for you. Hugs!!!!!!!!

I think that you did the right thing. I would have been angry about someone taking your dying Grandpa's meds. That is just awful!!! It amazes me that people have nerve to do such things. Stuff like this gets me boiling mad!!! Some people only think of themselves and no one else. Your poor Grandpa!! Where is this girls heart??? I would do whatever it took to solve the problem for your Grandpa. Screw the others.
taking one day at a time, trying to get rid of debt!!

You did the right thing for three reasons that aren't emotional or whatever.
#1..because of the problem, your grandpa was going to have to GO WITHOUT HIS MEDS. Unacceptable. I don't care who has what problem, depriving the elderly and terminally ill their medication is EVIL.
#2 Because she signed YOUR NAME. She (or anyone else who did that) obviously did not care how much trouble that may have caused for an innocent person.Sorry that disqualifies someone for YOUR pity.
#3 A CRIME HAS BEEN COMMITTED..seriously. Laws have been broken here, and there is a good chance someone somewhere could be PROSECUTED. It's YOUR NAME on that paper. YOU are the default person to be prosecuted.

Hi all! Well, after work today, I had to go to Police Dept and do the official Handwriting analysis. It wasn't too bad. The police officer (yes the town I live in only has one!) confided in me that with his experience and his eye for detail that he is quite certain "Jane" did it. He also told me that my name was also forged back in August for the same pain medication at the same pharmacy. He also explained that although the analysis may not be 100% conclusive, because they rarely are, that he is sure she will be in the high percentile and the other relative is more than likely a 0%. Thus, the case may be difficult to prove because there is no eye witness who can 'recall' the identity of person picking up the script, but the analysis can and will be submissable in court.
For some reason, perhaps it's because the police officer confirmed what I believed to be the same signature and the words of all of you that Tonight I feel much better about things. I think I may actually get some sleep tonight. Although, I do hate that Granny feels so badly about all this. I mean she is just heartbroken that her own granddaughter could have did something like this. I will keep everyone posted and even though I feel a bit better now, I may need future encouragement.
Thank you!!
