Smile Best Financial Advice I Ever Heard

I was watching the market tank on CNBC yesterday, when one of the talking heads came out with this statement that made me laugh out loud.

"When the Dow-Jones gets to 1, BUY!!"

That has to rank in the top 5 of all time best financial advice.

Anyway, what's the best financial advice YOU ever heard? You know, the short, sweet aphorism kind.

Mine is in my siggy and came from my grandma.

The best way to save money, is not to spend it!

And actually, as simple as it is, there is alot of merit to it. I have friends who think they are frugal when they find great deals or use coupons, but I always want to point out that without the coupon or the deal they wouldn't have bought that something in the first place! So therefor, just because it's a deal...if you don't need it in the first place, your wasting money and not saving anything!

Mine came from my grandma, too. She raised six kids through the Depression.

    These days, that's called re-purposing.

Debt is dumb. Cash is king.
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I owe, I owe; it's off to work I go.....

As long as we owe someone, our time and resources are not our own. We have to head off to work, giving someone else our time and then givng someone our paycheck, in order to pay the debt.
