    Default my .88 return....

so yesterday i needed to repair a faucet in one of my rentals...i needed a gasket....but i wasn't sure what size of gasket i needed...so i went to my local hardware store (they know me WELL) and bought 4 different sizes...i found the one i needed...fixed the faucet and now i have 3 gaskets that i don't need.... so i have two choices...throw them in the garage (with all the other stuff i didn't need) or take them back where they came from... well frugalites....guess which one i chose....

so i am in the hardware store again today (yes, it does become a daily occurance sometimes that cannot be planned...after all ..who knows just what day your tenant will decide to 'stand' on the kitchen faucet)...so here i am... and i have my gaskets....

i tell the clerk i want to return them...and he laughs his rear off (that's okay...i told you they know me well...and i know them...i don't take it personally that they are laughing...i am laughing too)...
he says 'why bother returning these'....my response (i don't even go into the 'my garage needs not another thing in it') i say to him....well it may only be .88 cents but if i keep the gaskets...i have .88 cents less right... right he says... so i say...would you while you are driving home tonight open the car window and throw a dollar out? ..he says...of course not.... and i say...well then what's the difference ????

he stopped laughing...looked at me and said...you know you are right... i of course said....tell me one more time....lol....

That's too funny! I always return stuff if I don't need it and I also take receipts back if they've overcharged by dh. My dh never, ever checks his receipts and it just kills me...but, it does make me richer...because, I don't give him the money I get back.

I love you making him tell you that you were right twice...that's great !

We have a local small (2 store) hardware store. Bless them, they know us very well and wouldn't laugh at all, at least not to our faces!

    Thanks for the smile!

oh they will laugh again...and its okay...i mean we really have a good relationship and jab back and forth everytime i am in there....

one day i walked in and one of the clerks ran from behind the counter at me and had a big tape dispenser in his hands and proceeded to run around in circles so fast around me that he had my arms taped to my body before i even realized what was happening....

at least they finally cut me out of it....how's that for customer service....

As I have said before you are just toooooooo funny. .88 is .88 and it all adds up even the pennies you find on the sidewalk. The tape story is hilarious, I can see it all happening in my mind.
