Made in the USA...mostly
Even the Toyota is somewhat made here in the U.S.A.
I've seen a lot of people wondering what to do about the economy.
The American government has trade agreements that essentially stop protectionism, ours and everyone else's, but..
Remember, YOU are the actual consumer, you don't have to make trade agreements..you can just buy American!

Nice little slide show. Mary Kay is still made in the USA
I *think* some of their packaging is made in China, but to my knowledge the make up is still made in Dallas. http://www.marykay.com/paulapafw/com...s/default.aspx
Rheem water heaters are made in Alabama and Mexico.Last edited by guest002; 02-26-2009 at 03:02 PM.

Toyotas and Hondas may, some of them anyway, be made in the USA, but the profits from them go back to Japan.
It's hard to stuff made in the USA anymore. Very frustrating.
The Anchor Hocking glass batter bowl I just bought was made in the US. So is the Lodge cast iron cookware I sometimes buy.
What else do others know of made right here by large corporations?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Some things "made in the USA" are actually made in sweat shops on islands owned by the United States. My policy is, to the best of my ability, know the company I am buying from. As for cars, profits stay in the US benefit stockholders, not the general economy. Jobs benefit the general economy. GM closed the plant near us and moved the production to Mexico.
I also think they need to realize that people are shopping for fuel economy and safety... which Toyota wins at hands down. American car companies need to change their business to remain competitive instead of expecting me to drive a gas guzzling car that is prone to roll-overs. JMHO

Elphie,
Did you see the news about the 2010 Hybrid Ford Fusion? It looks very interesting and is supposed to surpass the Toyota Prius.

What kills me is that my 1998 Ford escort..gets about 32 mpg..and it's NOT a hybrid, nor was it sold based on it's fuel economy. It's just a car.
The premium they expect you to pay now for anything over 24 mpg is setting my hair on fire...

There are actually quite a few things still made here in the great old USA! For the Christmas season 2007 I decided that every gift I gave was going to be made either in Michigan or in the USA. It took a lot of searching, but I did it...every single $$$ I spent that season didn't purchase not one thing made out of our country...right down to the wrapping paper and the Christmas cards. I have to admit though that most of my shopping was done online or the products were looked up online and found at local merchants.

Maybe we should have a spot where we can post links to USA only products that are easy for our FV members to access...worth a thought."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

The thing with the Hybrid made in America runs off of batteries made in Korea as stated by President Obama in his speech the other night.

I did see the new Ford hybrid... this is a great step in the right direction but I still think that American car companies need to step it up and be the innovators, not the followers. They'd have more money for things like this if they weren't paying workers to stay home. JMHO

I've heard when those hybrid car batts start dying they're going to be an ecological nightmare to dispose of. I wonder what the plan is for that. It's costly to throw away even small items like TVs and laptops due to the heavy metals and other toxins in them, so what's it going to cost to trash a car battery?

I thought New Balance was because my mother's foot doctor said so, and told her they were the best to buy for Diabetics. Anyway I did a search and it looks like my Mother's doctor was right, they are made in the USA. Here's a link
