    Talking Hello!

Hi, I am 24 years old and from Florida, I found frugalvillage through doing random google searches and found some articles to be very helpful.

I am currently working full time for a electronics company and going to school part time to hopefully one day finish a Electrical/Mechanical engineering degree.

I started truly panicking and getting depressed about two years ago when I discovered the very expensive degree I had received from ITT-Tech was not really worth as much as I hoped.

I sucked it up and went back to school and started back at the beginning and I am currently 22 credit hours into my education at a community college. I hope to transfer to USF in two years, granted I complete my AAS.

Long story short, I did get a great job as laser welder, with good benefits; although, I define great as in I am very happy with what I do, but the money lacks. I am terrified of my school loans from Sallie Mae that I took out when I went to ITT-Tech, they total a saddening $64,000 with high interest rates. I was 18, had no co-signer and the sales people at ITT promised me the world, I still get a little tear in my eye when I hear that song "If I knew what I knew now, when I was younger" (the best part was ITT-Tech credits don't transfer anywhere)

Well to get to the point, I am on the hunt for information and any advice from any one with experience of this kind of school loan debt, can offer. I am currently not paying on the loans and I have yet to consolidate(worry and confusion among other reasons), my loans are in "in school deferment" at this time.

My goals are to some how repay or just be comfortable with my school loan debt, pay off my car, and pay off my one and only credit card through my credit union(which I hope to do with my income tax).

My main reason for wanting to get rid of my school loan debt is I would like to be able to buy a house with my fiance in next 5 to 10 years.(who I plan to be married to this summer, on the cheap of course)

Sorry for the long winded introduction, I will now get to the main reason of the post.

    Hi, my name is Jason.

Welcome to the Village! I can't help you with the loan info, but there is lots to read and brains to pick here so I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Hi Jason and welcome. My advice is to sit back and read all the posts. Someone always has a question and someone always has helpful information, advice, or exprience.
