So Nervous!!!

My dh's work just laid off 43 people (only a total of 150 employees), and they are eliminating 3rd shift completely!! I'm getting very nervous....I've been really stockpiling lately, trying to plan ahead, way ahead!! Please keep my family in your prayers & the other families that lost their jobs

It's really hard when companies start laying off employees and shutting down shifts completely. Hopefully your dh will be one of the lucky ones and not get laid off.

Dh came home on Friday and told me not to freak out, but he might have to take a week off unpaid. Corporate is breathing down their neck becuase they have 3 too many guys. They've had 3 too many most of the winter and corporate just caught on. Well, they are pushing them to lay off 3 of them just until the end of March. But if they do, they can't hire them back without going through the union, which means they would have to rehire some of the guys that got laid off in the fall first (which they laid off the ones they didn't want back first, so they are trying to avoid that).

So in trying to get around corporate's demands, in two weeks, corporate is sending someone out to look at the books. So. they asked 3 guys to take one week of unpaid "family leave" all at once the week before. So when they come and look at the numbers the next week...payroll will show that they were right on track. And if those three guys aren't getting paid...well, then there is no one to lay off. I thought it was pretty ingeneous.

So, DH might have to take a week off, which he said he won't volunteer for (they were looking for volunteers), but if it comes down to it, won't be a huge deal for us. We can handle one week without pay!
