become motivated?
i've been lacking some serious motivation for a really (embarassingly) long time. i have so much i need to get done, and time is getting short for me to get things done.
how do you get motivated to do things? most of what i have to do are chores or projects. nothing really outside the house.
and once you get started on something, how do you continue on with keeping the motivation to finish, or get thru a struggle, pitfall or bump in the road?
thanks

set yourself small goals. i dont know how bad your motivation problem is but one small task a day, done everyday can really add up to alot of things getting done. dishes today, cleaning bathroom tomorrow.
if even that it too much to get you up and moving. try smaller.
dishes for example. sometimes i just cant get myself up to do them, so i break it down.
first, organize the dishes (i dont even know if everyone does this but i do, all glasses with glasses, utensils with utensils..). get that done and then do something relaxing. for me, just knowing that the dishes are separated and ready to be washed.. just sitting.... is enough to get me to what to do them. i dont even know if any of this makes any sense.marie/andrea

I have been having some difficulty staying on a schedule lately. I think the lack of sleep and winter duldrums are not helping. I try to get what ever cleaning done in the morning so the rest of the day I can do what I want. Breaking things down does work. Some times I might "bribe" myself. Such as if I do X right now I can do Y after. Y being make popcorn, watch a movie, or anything I want to do.
Just try to do as much as you can before getting overwhelmed. Sometimes putting on your favorite music can help you also finish a chore.

Clock watching is usually unproductive, but..
I sometimes try to see if I can get something done in a set amount of time. I try to guess how much time it would usually take..say dishes done in a half an hour.
Then I set my kitchen timer for 30 minutes and play beat the clock!
Bonus points are awarded if you manage to get anything else done while you're doing the dishes.

i don't follow it everyday to the "t" but i hear myself saying things like "you can do anything for 15 minutes" and then i'll get moving
she has lots of other practical advice too AND she firmly believes in taking babysteps and not beating yourself up
one of her other quotes i like to remind myself of is "housework done incorrectly still blesses your family"Last edited by jayneluvsmickey; 03-01-2009 at 07:56 PM.

i like one a day vitamins called "women's active mind and body".
i do chunking, one little thing at a time. clean out one drawer. take a break. etc.11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.
"i create prosperity, abundance, and savings for me and my household"

I've been having this problem as well. I reward myself! I log on to the computer and I make a deal with myself. While the computer is dialing up the internet I will do one small thing(load the washer maybe). Then as a page is loading I will jump up and fold laundry or put something away.
If I'm watching tv I make a deal with myself that I can watch, but I MUST get up and do something during the commercial breaks. Or if I'm reading, I have to get up and work for 15 minutes after each 20 pages I read.
This works for me!S
