Default Oopsies and what was I thinking moments

I have had a few of them this past week.....
please share any of yours with me, so I don't feel so bad.

This morning, my hubby calls home at 6:30am to let me know that the kitchen sink hot water line was not working. So when he gets home for his breakfast break, I ask him to bring in the small electric heater we have in the shed to try to unfreeze the line. It has been bitter cold here that last 2 days. So about 4 hrs of the heater running, and I made our lunch in the oven so extra heat there. Lunch time and still no hot water. He wants to go and take his parents up a load of wood on his pickup. Get back home, and still no hot water in the kitchen. So he proceeds to pull my clothes washer out from the wall, and unhooks all those lines in a effort to backtrack that water line. I have to go dig out my hair dryer that I never use any more. So there he sits on the floor with hair dryer running. Not sure why but I decided to poke my head under the kitchen sink. Checked cold line, yup....the valve was open....checked hot line....oops.....got up and turned on the hot water.......back in business.
Not sure what expression was on hubby's face, but at least he did not yell at me......as he put my washer back in place.......
    .....
I can only think now, I must have bumped it when I put something under the sink for storage. It's a first though........

Laugh at yourself, those moments just remind you to take a step back and relax. That's what I think anyway. I'm glad it was something simple and Murphy didn't stop by!

I've done silly things like go to mop my floors (I don't have a bucket, I just fill my kitchen sink with cleanser and water) and poured cleanser right into the sink full of running water and then realized that the sink is not getting full because I haven't put the plug in. Really, it was just wasted water and cleanser but it was one of those moments where you look around to see if anyone witnessed the stupidity.

Let me tell you if I had a nickel for every "scatter brained" thing I've done, well I could probably fund this whole bail-out thing on my own! Just the other night I was telling dh that I wanted to save the water I boiled the potatos in to water my plants (a fab tip I read here at FV) so literally while I'm saying that I walk over to the sink and drain the whole thing through the collander, to his credit dh didn't say a word as I stood there with my mouth open and watched all of that water rush down the sink! Or how about the time I answered the door and had a whole conversation with a coworker of my dh's walking all around the room to get some stuff he had come after and realized after he had left I had a sticky rice cake stuck to my butt (courtesy of one of my toddlers!) I could write a book. Seriously.

I am perfect. **heavy sarcasm here***

I do so many loopy things that I don't even keep count. My hubby however, did a good one on Sunday. Actually, he thought he was helping, but I was out grocery shopping. When I got home he tells me that he got some chicken out of the freezer and put it in the crock pot (already 2PM at this point) with some BBQ sauce before he realized that I had some in the fridge defrosting. I kindly tell him that it won't cook quick enough for us to eat it for dinner, but that I will keep it for another day. So, I go and look at it...he didn't even try to defrost it. He put it in as is...a big frozen mass of chicken breast. It had been in there over an hour and I still wasn't able to pry it apart. LOL

I didn't say anything because it was fixable and he gets points for trying to make dinner.

I was making pizza and had to ask witch order the sauce and toppings went on. I do things like that all the time. I lost my car key for a month once. I did a load of dishes and forgot to put the soap in.

I found my wallet once in the freezer. Don't remember putting it there but I am glad I found it!

I have learned a lot from my cats. They just look at you with that "I meant to do that" stare when they've done something really dumb or clumsy.

It works for people, too. Just don't ask my DH how often I use the "I meant to do that" stare.

Well, yesterday the shiny new card came in the mail, I called to activate it, took it to the other room to get a sharpie type pen to sign it, and did - right across the magnetic strip. The second I finished it was "I don't believe I just did that." So I signed it again in the proper place and will be embarrassed every time I see it until February of 2012.

Yup! Right here! I found my lost new ring in the mozzerella cheese. Yes, you read that right I had used about half the cheese, then used a rubber band to re-secure the plastic wrap it came in. In the meantime, I noticed my ring was gone A couple of days later, I needed the cheese again. I opened the pkge., and lo and behold, there was my ring. It was stuck in the cheese pkge. LOLOLOL!! I literally screamed when I saw it! I guess it got twirled in somehow from wrapping the rubberband. This was after putting everybody on a major search for 2 days. I was so sad because we were finally able to replace our original wedding set just a couple of weeks before for our anniversary last year

It made for some good conversation for awhile, and fortunately for me, we're always breaking out the mozzerella

That is too funny! I am truly laughing out loud, practically crying!

But don't feel bad. One time my DD needed me to write out a check for her, and she asked me for it while I was still in bed sleeping. So I asked her to get me the checkbook so I could fill it out for her. Well, I get it done and hand it back to her, and she says to me, Ma! You filled it out alright, right on the plastic. I didn't realize that I didn't flip the plastic sheet under the next check....LOL! All I saw was the blank check. And what's worse is do you know that stupid thing is still there? I hate reminders like that! LOL!!

    Oh Yeah..all the time!
I call the family in and we're going to do the monthly budget meeting. I have my typed out list of expenditures down to parking change! I am on top of this...
So my daughter looks at the budget for oh..say 15 seconds and looks at me, and asks "Aren't we making the house payment this month?"

I tried to put my boots in the fridge the other day LOL. I'd been in bed feeling like crap all weekend. On Monday our mortgage company decided to help themselves to more of my money than I had authorized them to and overdrew my checking account. So I had to call my bank and put a stop payment on the mortgage company. But that meant I had to get up, get dressed and we had to go out on slick roads so I could sign the paper at the bank giving my bank the order to stop the payment. I was so tired and out of it when we got home that I took off my boots and started to the kitchen to put them away and opened the fridge to put them in LOL.
