If today was YOUR last day...
I heard this song on the radio yesterday and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it... it really makes me think. What would YOU do if today was your last day??
Nickelback
If Today Was Your Last Day Lyrics:
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride
If today was your last day
Tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day
Against the grain should be a way of life
whatīs worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause thereīs no second try
So live like youīll never live it twice
donīt take the free ride in your own life
If today was your last day
Tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one youīre dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day
If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know itīs never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you canīt rewind a moment in this life
Let nothin' stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side
If today was your last day
Tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one youīre dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

I've not heard this song. But it reminds me of my nephew who died at 23 of cystic fibrosis. He was in the hospital waiting for a lung transplant. He struggled for every breath and at the end, when they put him on the ventilator, he knew that he would either awake with new lungs, or he would awake in heaven: the ultimate transplant! With the little breath left in him, he told his family he loved them and that he loved Jesus. Those were his last words before he died.
For myself, if I knew this was my last day, it would be all about my Jesus, my family and my friends. I would be on the phone or visit in person with these many people who have been so important in my life. And I would testify to them of how wonderful the Christian life is, and how it gives me complete hope of eternity in Heaven. I would tell them how much I loved them and how valuable they are to me.
I think I could die with no regrets.Spiritual:

If today was my last day I would go sky diving and then spend the day with my husband and kiddos.

Love this song. Nickleback is one of my favorite bands...if there is any band that could instill "Beattles-style, panty/stage throwing mania" in me, it would be Nickleback.
Almost every song of theirs is really well written and contains alot of meaning. Gotta Be Somebody is another really good, inspiring one by them.
Honestly, I laid in the emergency room in July of 2007, literally bleeding almost to death, and I thought "this is when I am going to die." Going in and out of conciousness, I was very aware of the fact that I was happy with my life. There were very few things that I would change if I had another chance. Since then, I guess I learned a valuable lesson, in that you need to do things now, and not wait until another day, or it might not happen.

I think about it......often.
I have a severe case of sleep apnea. I have been sleeping with a bipap machine for the last 3 yrs now every SINGLE night. Without that machine, I would be taking a chance of not waking up in the morning.
I had a sleep test recently and they had to change my number settings on my machine. I have gotten worse. Nothing surgery can fix for me.
I am slowly feeling better with my new settings. I will never be able to get back what I have lost, but for now, I am holding steady and mighty thankful for what I do have. I don't want people feeling sorry for me. I tell my story in hopes that if you have a family member or a friend with sleep apnea, that you will stay on top of things for them. I talked my doctor into having my machine read every 6 months now. They had not took a reading off my machine in the 3 yrs I have had it. If they had, they would have known my old settings were not working for me. I was having 80 apneas a night using my machine faithfully every night, versus 0 to 15 currently. No wonder I was not getting any better.
How would I spent my last day if I knew it was my last ?

I love the band. Havent heard this one yet, but love the lyrics. If today was my last day...I would spend it with my husband outside, in nature, where we both love, and we would pray, and talk, and cry.
I dont want to know when my last day will be. Makes me tear up now."That which does not kill us makes us stronger."

I'd have me a big juicy steak before I was gone. Red meat is something I normally stay away from.

Of course, I would spend as much time as possible with my husband and my daughters. I would pray to Jesus as I prepare to go to my true home. I would also like to take just a little while and walk outside, take a deep breath of fresh air, look at the sky, trees and smell my lovely flowers.....all creations of my Heavenly Father and thank Him for letting me enjoy it while I could.

I would have sex with my hubby. Snuggle my kid. Have all my friends over for dinner, and plant an oak tree.

I have several aneurisms that they are watching but we are not in a position to have surgery on any at the moment so for me this is a thought DH and I have grappled with often. So if today were my last day - I wouldn't do anything different. We treat every day as if it were a gift.
