Beware of Lock Bumping!!!
I received this from an email, so please spend a few minute looking thru the demo clip provided in the link.....which might eventually save you thousand of dollars, or even your life....
"Next is a very disturbing explanation and demonstration of "lock bumping"...a SIMPLE technique where anyone 10 years or older can open your home locked door in less than a minute, IF your door lock cost less than $150. Only a select number of expensive locks will thwart "bumping"!!!! Since we all have Schlage or other (less than) $100 door locks just understand that any burglar can enter at will by just unlocking your door. "How about your dead bolt", you say? The dead bolt key lock is as easily "bumped" as the door handle lock...as the demo shows. Replace your current locks or "hope" a "bump" burglar does not come to your door."
Here is the link with demonstration.

Yeah that. And I wonder if the guy in the video sells the new locks?
Another reason to for us all to be paranoid and suspicious of everyone else. Kinda sad if you ask me. I'm not going to spend more money to get a bump proof lock.
It was very interesting though. Thanks for posting.

Well if that doesn't jump out and bite people into realizing this is a way to cause panic in people in a difficult time of "doom and gloom" then I don't know what will.
Seriously....why specifically say any lock costing less than $150? So if I go spend exactly more than $150 on new locks it will save me thousands or even my life?
I guarantee you ANY lock can be opened by those that know how to do it.
This is doing exactly what things like this are created to do...create panic and cause people to freak out in such trying times.

This is not new. I learned how to do this almost 20 years ago. No, I don't break into other people's houses. However, it's been useful for getting cabinets open at work when someone has lost the key.
It only works on old locks with sticky pins. In a new lock, when you put the key in and the pins push up into position, they fall back as soon as the key is removed. In older locks dirt or oil can cause them to stay in place with the tumbler essentially unlocked, making it easy to get the door open.
You probably do not need a new lock, just a clean one. If your lock has not been changed in a few years it's also not a bad idea to have it re-keyed. You don't know who has a copy of your house key.Use it up, Wear it out,

Well all I know is anyone idiot enough to come near our place will end up being dog food or shot. Either way they will not be picking anyone's lock.

I would need to try it myself before I would believe it. Also, I have a hard time believing sites with miss spelled words.

I wonder if that is how someone got into that house where Hailee was taken?
Anyway wouldn't putting a slider lock on the inside prevent this? (in addition to the deadbolt)

I haven't time to worry about this sort of thing...I ask God to place a protective hedge of angels around our home every night and He hasn't failed me yet...and sometimes we get up in the morning to see that the front door is unlocked and the garage never got closed!!
