When I bought scratch offs the biggest prize I won was $100, but one week I had 4-$50 winners. My dh plays scratch offs, & he won $100 Tuesday night on a ticket he bought on our way to the casino. On the pick your number tickets, years ago I won $1500...but, I rarely play the lottery anymore...would rather save my blow money for the casino

not a winner here either with powerball. darnit. You always hear of those groups of coworkers or neighbors winning. We should have a pool too, lol. Sigh. Off to squeezing blood from turnips in my banking accounts again, lol.

The one and only time I played the lottery -- It was a Friday in July... I was 18, just moved out of my parents house in to my own apartment and wrote a check to the landlord that I didn't know would bounce come Monday morning (deposited my paycheck, didn't know it needed time to clear) had 50 cents left to my name and bought a daily numbers game.
Later that night I went to where I worked (to scavage some food from the kitchen
) and I asked one of the residents what the numbers were that night (I think she had a secret life as a bookie before moving in to the rest home, she had every lottery number in notebooks)...
At first it didn't sink in, then I jumped up and she told me to zip my lip because if the owner of the rest home (who was secretly dubbed Queen of Mean) found out, she would find some reason to get rid of me because she liked to think she has control of us underlings. They were MY numbers! 5772
I ran back to the corner store I bought the ticket at, tried to cash it but they said it was too much and I would have to go to the lottery office on Monday. By now I was annoyed because I thought the clerk was just brushing me off because I told him I wasn't interested in doing the funky monkey with him
I don't remember getting much sleep that weekend and I was at the lottery office bright and early to collect my money.
Ran BACK to the bank, cashed the lottery check, ran to the landlord with cash in hand and begged for the check back... telling him I lost my checkbook and had to close the account (hey, beats telling him he could ride the bouncing check down the street). Then I bought some things my very empty studio apartment needed... like a dish, microwave, shower curtain... and the start of my stockpile
Oh, my winnings? $1800... not bad for a broke, starving kid
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I used to play for fun. I've never won enough to make up for what I've spent.
Lotteries are a tax on people who are bad at math.
(But I still play sometimes, for a lark - out of my entertainment blow money)
I prefer Blackjack though. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I won $80 on the Pro-Line (sports betting), plus another $40 on the Over-Under one weekend betting on a real long shot football game. That's about $100 more than I've spent on gambling in my entire lifetime, so I'm way ahead.

I have never won much to mention on tickets, but my brother won $500 on a pull ticket when his girlfriend and I drug him to play bingo with us once. Now the casino, I took someone over there to cash a check, I was just standing around waiting for her, dug into my purse for 75 cents, popped it into the machine and RAN out of there with $675. LOL

I've never won more than $10 on lotto..but I still buy them, in our state the money goes into the education fund so I don't mind too much.
Besides..$1 for a whole week of daydreams..much cheaper than even a second hand book.

I don't buy lottery tickets.... I just can't afford to. DH sometimes buys into the lottery pool at work though, but they just recycle the small winnings back into the pool to buy more tickets...
But it was nice to hear that you know someone who won $100,000! That would be amazing!
