    Default Birthdays: Dreaded or Anticipated?

Hey, I have a birthday coming up next month: the big 6-0!!!!! I am soooooo excited! I've never been 60 before! Whoo--Hoo!!!

Seriously, I love birthdays and can't wait for each one. I want to see what the new year will bring and what I will learn. I want to see how well I meet hurdles and challenges. I just want to celebrate all over the place!

What birthday was significant to you? My fav so far was turning 50. See, I have this goal of living to 100, so when I turned 50, I figured that I reached middle age. Of course, middle age lasted just one day! And then it was on to the next phase......

Do you dread birthdays or anticipate them? Guess you know that I anticipate . But do you dread each passing year? Why? Do you love your birthday? Why?

I had a friend who cried and cried when she turned 30. She felt like life had passed her by and that it was all over. She saw no future at all. I just really could not understand that, even though I listened and gave her my sympathy.

Know what I would love? A huge party! People all over the place, food, laughter..... as we all celebrated another year of life. Guess what I'm getting though: a work night. Yep, the class I teach falls on my birthday. Maybe I'll make a cake and take it to my students. Whaddya think?

Good idea! Take a cake and celebrate with your students. They see you for a long time each day.

I don't dread or celebrate birthdays. I hate any attention on myself so I don't like big celebrations for myself. I don't dread them either as I feel (now that I am older) that I have come a long way and have a long way to go yet. I like getting older. I wish I still had the body of a 20 year old but I like getting older and wiser.

I'm kind of indifferent towards them. I care more about how old I look than how old I actually am. According to most people, I look at least 5-7 years younger than I am. I've been 28 for a while now

Actually, I don't mind getting older, I'm happier now than I was when I was younger. Beats the alternative anyway!

I love birthdays. It's the scale I don't care for, LOL.

Birthdays are fun. It's nice to give/get a surprise, have a cake, and smile.

I'm pretty indifferent and barely notice them as they go by - I have even failed to notice it was my birthday.

But I loved 40 and 60 (last year). At forty, I felt like I was finally a settled, established, somehow "real" person. Sixty felt like a milestone - I'm still working out all that turning that bend in the road means, but it's good.

What birthday was significant to you?
my last. i marked it as my first day going vegan. thats about the highlight.

Do you dread birthdays or anticipate them? Guess you know that I anticipate . But do you dread each passing year? Why? Do you love your birthday? Why?
both, everything has benefits and consequences. i dont dread the passing years but i'm not exactly pushing for them. to me time is relative. my birthday is just another day.

it's just another day. the majority of people who are suppose to be my family don't even remember it. I have to bake my own cake every year. I buy my own presents too. I've never in my entire life had a birthday party because nobody's ever been happy enough I was born I guess, to throw me one. lol whatever. I've gone this long, I don't need one now lol

I like birthdays, but I wish it wasn't always so much fuss. I'd just like to have a few friends and my family, some pumpkin pie and I don't even care about the presents. But I'm born on a holiday soo...it's always

I don't dread them as in, I don't dread getting older.

But I do dread any holiday where gifts are given. >.<

    I don't really have a "significant" birthday.
And I neither dread nor anticipate them. I am proud of my age, so I am not really bothered about having another birthday, and we don't really celebrate them so there is nothing to anticipate.

I don't care about getting older but I hate the attention. I like to fade into the backgroud and can't when they insist on singing and gifts. Actually, last sunday I noticed a lovely gift sitting at mil house even commented to my daughter oh geez did we forget someones birthday? No one said anything so forgot about it. We ate and as soon as I took the last bite of my food mil yells ready and everyone starts singing happy birthday to me. Ok my birthday is 10 weeks away. She knew I was dying to get a sewing machine and had been looking for a used one on craigslist and goodwill found one that had my attention and told dh about it he told MIL I probably wasn't going to wait till may to get one so she gave it to me early..lol
I've had so much fun sewing doll clothes for my foster daughter. Now if I can just get this quilt I'm trying to figure out to work.
P.S. I have the greatest MIL

I loved birthdays until I turned 21. I suddenly felt old at that point.

Now it's good if it gets recognized. I don't expect a big shin dig to happen but it is nice when I get treated to something because of it... whether it be fiscally related or free.

I always hated the idea of getting old because like every other woman in my family, they've had severe medical problems and drastic changes in their appearance.
