Ok..it's certainly interesting..but..since Hopkins is the "spokesman" for best price storable foods..wouldn't he have a pretty good reason to imply there was or will soon be a "shortage" of exactly that sort of food?
I mean any sort of panic or rush to buy those sorts of foods would only benefit HIS company in the form of increased orders, wouldn't it?
Hmm..there are plenty of #10 cns of all sorts of stuff at my local costco and all the restaurant supply stores (albeit I imagine "survival food" is different).
I'm a little sceptical of this sort of stuff,,especially since that "rice shortage" a few months back..that turned out not to exist after all.
But thanks for the link! It's always best to be informed.Last edited by Thevail; 03-09-2009 at 02:37 AM.

It certainly is food for thought. And maybe keep it stored in the back of the mind as an incentive to add more or even start to stock pile things.
question please: WHAT is dried TVP ? I keep seeing it posted and I have no idea what that stands for. thanx

I find that interesting.
But the article was posted on July 25, *2008*, so that was close to a year ago?
I'm always interested in any stockpiling article, but I wouldn't want people to get into a panic mode and start throwing a bunch of money, that they may be using to pay down debt, into their stockpiles.
I say just continue to stockpile as usual, and add things as you can afford them.
Along the same lines, I noticed when I recieved my newest issue of the "All You" magazine, they also made a small comment about stockpiling food.
Before this recession, you would never have thought you would have heard that reference in a magazine.
If anybody has the issue, it's on page:15, under Savings Secret #2.
I think with this tough economy, and with people getting laid off left & right, everybody will begin promoting 'stockpiling' as a way to save money.
Unfortunately for alot of people that it really could have helped, they've never even heard the term, or have, and decided not to act on it.Michelle in middle Tennessee!
Ever so slowly rebuilding my stockpile...

TVP~Textured Vegetable Protein, you can buy it in flavors and in different sizes:cubes, flakes, etc. to use in place of meat or to extend the meat your already using.
I've used it and we personally did not care for it, however we did use the unflavored, so the flavored varieties might taste better?Michelle in middle Tennessee!

TVP is textured vegetable protein. I have several #10 size cans of this. It is dried, and unflavoured. You add liquid and flavour to it. beef broth or chicken. I've even had it mixed in with the water drained off of a tuna can, will take on that flavour.
