    Default Friday Fish Fries!

I'm not Catholic, but I love Friday Fish Fries during Lent. I'm a fish fanatic, anyway, so this is just awesome for me. Most of the fries around here are run by churches or some civic organizations, and they are big deals. People line up to get in. Usually they have a couple kinds of fish, like buffalo, cod or cat, coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, homemade rolls and butter, homemade pies, and drinks. Often they are all you can eat. One place offers shrimp and frog legs, too. We look forward to these every year during Lent. The cost around here is about $7.00.

Is it traditional where you live to have fish fries? What do they serve? Are they popular? What kind of cost?

Our last Friday Fish Fry for the season is coming up this Friday. I am sure going to miss them! It might just be something in this area, but it's a big deal around here.

Never heard for Fish Fries but what a great idea!! Glad you had a chance to enjoy before they disappear.

I love them too...but not willing to spend the money to go out to dinner for them! I may attempt it at home this year! I'm not highly religious, so I don't necessarily HAVE to eat fish this friday!

I love them too. We are lucky enough to have different orgs like the VFW and other churches that run deals like this on Fridays throughout the year. The local Fireman's fraternity does a $1 taco night on Friday's. These are not the little things like at Taco B. They are tons better. Check your paper in the community happenings section for things like this. Our teens see these like DH and I do - cheap date nights.

Some of the local KoC (Knights of Columbus) host them around here. I've never been to one but knowing KoC, I'm sure they are fabulous. I wish Greebo wasn't allergic to seafoods.

I love fish fries. A local American Legion has one every month with all you can eat, catfish, fries, slaw, hushpuppies and drink for $5.00. We always try to make it.

Fish Fries are a big thing around here. We have a few places (grocery stores) that have them all year round on Friday. However, during Lent, it seems that there are a lot of organizations hosting fish fries as fundraisers.

We love them and have tried most of the one's in town.

Someone mentioned the community pages of your newspapers for notices of things like this. A lot of churches around here will have whole hog sausage dinners or kettle-cooked beef dinners, too. Always good.

We have lots of churches around our city which have them. I hear they're great, though I've never gone.
