Do you ever get tired of.......
thinking, worrying, fussing over every penny? I like being frugal, most of the time. But lately it seems like every where I turn someone is messing with my money! I get so tired sometimes of worrying about it! Here are some examples......
We are working very hard to catch up on late house payments. This happened when I was laid off. I thought we were up to date and I was told by a bank employee we were TOTALLY up to date. Only to find out that this employee was wrong and we were still a month behind! So we've been paying extra for several months now to catch it up. This has been a real strain on us, leaving us with NOTHING at the end of a month. But we've been doing it. Early in Feb. I went online and made an online payment to come out on Feb. 26. Later in the month dh had to have some emergency dental work done. Since it was with a new dentist they insisted on payment up front even though we have dental insurance. So I called the bank and they said no problem. Call us after his appointment and tell us what you can make and we will change it. So I call them and tell them the amount I can pay and I say "can you change that for me?" She says oh sure. I hear her clicking around and she says "ok, it's taken care of. I changed it."
This payment was to be more than our regular payment but less than the scheduled "extra" payment. So the day arrives and guess what? They withdrew 400.00 more from my account than they were supposed to and overdrew my account! UGH! I call them and oh heck it's MY fault! The girl tells me "I can't change an online payment you have to do that." I said "I asked you if you could change the payment and you told me yes. Then you came back and told me it was all taken care of." She says "oh I just changed the amount you were going to pay on my computer screen, not the actual payment."
WTH?? I said "when I ask you if you can change the payment and you tell me of course and then it's all done I assume that YOU CHANGED THE PAYMENT!"
So I have to call and ask to speak to a supervisor. Dear Darling Darren answers my call and I ask for a supervisor. Why do I want a supervisor? None of your business, give me a supervisor. I have to know why before I transfer you. Is this about the problem with your online payment(Darren and Emily must be friends!)? Yes it is, please give me a supervisor. Well I need to try and fix this before I transfer you. What can I do to help.
Ok at this point I have lost my patience along with my mind. I yell into the phone GIVE ME A DAMN SUPERVISOR NOW! And yep, I get one LOL.
Oh heck YOU are the only one who can change an online payment and Emily has a note on your file "today" that she told you that. I said "look lady. I have been busting my behind for months to catch up on this mess after your employee assured us we were up to date and was WRONG! Let's think this through. I called your employee to tell her my payment would be less than scheduled. I called your employee again and asked her to change the payment. She assured me she had changed it. Do you HONESTLY think after months of trying to catch up, putting my family in a hard place and going out of my way to call EMILY twice that I would have then NOT gone online and changed the payment if she had told me to? Do you really think I want my checking account overdrawn?" Well she had to admit it must have been Emily's fault but she can't do anything about it but suggest more training for their employees.
I had to pay 10.00 to stop that payment, get out of bed and get dressed (this is when I was so sick) and go out on slick roads to sign the stop payment form at the bank, wait a week and then redo the payment. I gave her heck over caught up guy, Emily and Darren! I HATE Wells Fargo!
Last week I went to a sale in town to get milk for 2.49 a gallon and potatoes for 2.79 for 10lbs. I also got some soda on sale. The soda rings up wrong and the girl catches it. Someone I know walks up and starts talking to me and distracts me. I get home and the darn potatoes rang up 3.99! Would that 2.40 have broke the bank here? No, but it would have bought two loaves of bread, another gallon of milk, etc. So I have to call and fuss at them and then stop yesterday to get a refund.
Today I go to pay dd's lunch bill. For the second month in a row it's all messed up. Here is what it says
Prev. balance 16.70
New charges 20.35
Payments 18.15
Amount due 18.90
Last month it was a mess like this. They had charged her for two lunches in one day, etc. Nothing made sense. The lady who does the bills finally gave me a balance of 15.25 as being owed so that is what I paid. NOT 18.15. So now I have to call again and straighten this one out. I want to pay them WHAT I OWE THEM! No more, no less!
UGH!!!!S

I wish we could refinance with another bank. We have one of those high rate, adjustable loans that has everyone in a pickle right now. I'd LOVE to tell Wells Fargo to kiss my big ole butt and refinance but our credit score isn't high enough right now. Hopefully some time in the VERY near future we will be able to!
Some days I just cry thinking of us being in this shape. We used to have a very high score that all the banks loved and they used to call us and beg for our business. This is what grief did to me!S

Yes, about once a week! Sometimes I fantasize about paying someone to declutter my house, redo my yard, make all repairs, in fact, since this is a fantasy, being magically transported to a new but quainty charming house in a perfect climate with a little seashore, an interesting woods, a beautiful garden...Do you ever get tired of.......

I got so tired of it I gave the job to DH. For the first month I thought I loved it, now I find I worry all the time about every penny he spends. I keep thinking " he is spending too much" are the bills paid? UGH, I cant' win.

Seems when something goes wrong, its starts a domino effect. For me, the little things, one after another, can really do a number on my attitude. Then I start to wonder if I'm attracting more bad stuff because I'm being negative. Crazy, I know but its part of my downward spiral.
I do get tired of worrying about every little expenses. All the careful planning & budgeting is so easily undone by an unexpected bill or problem. Its so hard to keep pushing forward, but I refuse to give up. I think all those "mistakes" (wrong price at store, insurance refusing a claim, whatever it is), can wear us down & make us want to throw in the towel. However, its my money & I'm not giving them anymore than I have to if I can help it. Sure its only $2, but its my $2. KWIM Things will get better.

Maybe this can help you...
I too have Wells Fargo and was in the same emotional/financial state you are in now.. By the sounds of it you have been paying on a 'repayment plan'... Is this correct?
Whether it is is isn't correct you can still call them, explain your situation (how you've been trying to make these higher payments but your husband needed emergency dental work and those payments don't work anymore..... Spill your guts.) IF they don't offer for you to 'apply' for a 'loan modification', ask for one... \
I did. And I can tell you that it made a world of difference. My payments went back to where they were(well, for a month anyway. Then they sent me a letter saying my escrow was behind and they added another $200 month) But, once you apply, they set you up 3 payments at like $40 more than your normal payment.( You make those ON TIME and you are pretty much gauranteed the modification. )
Once those 3 months are over the loan goes into 'review' for a while. When you get approved, you don't pay anything for a few months. That is your chance to get caught up on other things to free up some money for when you have to pay again.
The amount of money that you are behind will go to the end of your loan...
If you haven't done this I HIGHLY suggest you do...
I too have crap credit and can't refinance to a different company. So, if your stuck with them you might as well use it to your advantage.
If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I've been exactly where you are. As a single mom of two, some months I felt like I would never get my head above water. Keep your head up high and do your best. That's all that you can do. Remember always, this too shall pass.

I would definately change banks. I'm finding more and more you have to watch every move the tellers make; they do not seem to know what they are doing. I tell my husband I should be getting their pay because I'm always calling the bank to fix something. I recently got a new bank; not sure if its in your state. Flagstar.
They have overdraft protection in a couple of ways. And if you should bounce a check and have the protection it costs $10 a day not $35 a bounced check. They also seem so much more willing to please you. WE ARE THE CUSTOMER Our banking with you pays your wages Please do your job and correct your own errors and not at my expense

Thanks for the advice! They offered us a loan modification but they have screwed us so many times that I'm done doing anything more with them. By the first week of April we will be totally caught up and then it's back to the normal payments. If I have to starve my family for a month we will NEVER be behind even one day with them again( hee hee I sound like Scarlett O'Hara don't I). And once I get our score back up (it's almost there) they can kiss my big ole butt goodbye and I plan to call and tell them so!
