different hours of sleep required to still function....
so i have noticed that some of you still manage to stay awake and play in the village at 2am.... i'm guessing you all don't require the same amount of hours of sleep that i do...(i NEED a full 8-10 hrs or i can become useless)....
so how many hours of sleep a night does everyone require......

For me it depends- if I am rested to begin with I do well with about 7 hours... however if I am sleep deprived then I need more to pay off my "sleep debt". If I can consistently get 7-8 hours I am at my best but I'm an insomniac so that doesn't happen all the time.
Another thing to keep in mind when looking at those times is that we have Villagers who reside across the pond so what seems like an ungodly hour to post may not be.

With me, IF I can get to sleep, and IF I can stay asleep, I do good with 8hrs. I hate menopause. My sleep is all messed up sometimes. Working out really helps tho. Only 2 cups coffee in the morning, and thats all the caffeine for the day. I try to get up at the same time everyday, but if I haven't sleep the night before, then my schedule is totally screwed up.

I honestly do not know what my optimum sleep time is anymore. Anything under 7 and I am completely useless and my headaches come on full force. But it doesn't seem to matter how much I get, I wake up exhausted and go to bed exhausted.

I need more sleep...but some nights just can't sleep. I found I have really good days after 6.5 -7.5 hours. I average about 5.5 hours.

I have always been lucky in that I don't require a lot of sleep. If I get a good solid 4 hours I am fine. I work nights so my sleep schedule is always a confusing mess but whether it is sleeping nights or days it is still 4 hours.

I work best on 8-9 hours daily with one 12 hr. sleep weekly.
Don't shortchange yourself - last week when I slept only 2-3 hours a day for four days messed me up big time!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I sleep in one to three hour spurts throughout the day/night. Almost everyday I take a mid-morning nap, an afternoon nap and I sleep on and off through the night. I sleep anywhere from six to ten hours a day. It os rare for me to sleep six to eight hours without waking up.

I need lots of sleep. I function minimally on about 6 hours and optimally on 8+. I also have insomnia and because of this I've (sadly) cut my coffee intake, don't drink soda, lined my bedroom curtains, and wear an eye mask. I also take a generic Tylenol PM occasionally but the groggy side effects are almost not worth it.

I don't think I've had a full, good nights sleep since dh started working shift work. My schedule functions around everyone else in the house. I go to bed usually by 9 but sleep if and when the schedule allows me. I sleep when and if dh doesn't wake me up either coming to bed, getting up 15 times, snoring, pulling off the covers, hogging the bed, etc.
I get up when the schedule of everyone else demands it. If dh is working daylight I wake up at 4am when his alarm goes off. Sometimes I go back to sleep, most of the time I don't. I get up at 6am when my alarm goes off because I have to get the kids up, feed them and get them off to school.
IF I sleep 5 hours a night it's a good night. And that's not usually five solid hours. It's broken up by everything that goes on around me. I take spells where I go 2 or 3 weeks sleeping maybe 3 hours a night.
I NEED a good 9 hours or so to feel like I've had a good night. However I've been going without for so long that I function well no matter how much or how little sleep I've gotten.S

I don't even know what my optimal amount of sleep is anymore. I always used to do my best on 9 hours or so, but I tend to wake up every 30 minutes or so all night long now, so no matter how long I sleep, the disjointedness of it leaves me exhausted all the time anyway......

I generally go to bed between 10-11PM and I am up between 6-7AM. So, 7-8 hours a night. I never sleep completely through the night however. Even when I was younger.
