I Am Still Reeling From This
Oh my goodness everyone! I am driving home from work today listening to the local talk radio station and I hear there has been a fire at my brother's apt complex with one male fatality.
All I could think about was my brother and nephews. I try to get in touch w/ him and can't. I am in a panic driving home, call my mom,,,,, She hasn't heard from him which is weird cuz he would call to calm her.... She goes to his apt complex and thank goodness a neighbor saw him and my nephew get out.
What she didn't tell my mother is that he almost got himself killed because he passed my nephew off to a neighbor and went back into the apt where the fire was to try to save the 14 yr old boy who did die there. He got all the way in the apt in two rooms deep and couldn't get any further as his lungs filled with smoked and the hot air. That is so like him.
Now he is beside himself because he didn't save that boy. I know you all are great believers, so I am asking if you could please say a prayer that my brother finds peace and realizes he honestly did all he could for this boy.
Thanks guys. I am still so shaken up by this.

Oh my goodness. I would be freaking out. I'm glad your brother and nephew are ok, but how sad about the other boy. I will keep you brother in my prayers, that he doesn't carry guillt. He did more than most people would do in that situation and he almost got himself killed.

Your DB sounds like a very brave and caring man. It took alot for him to go in that fire! I'm sorry for all of this for your family! I can only imagine what feelings are going on right now.
And how tragic for the young man who lost his life. Words just aren't enough!
Thinking of all of you!

Oh my goodness! You brother is so brave! Call the fire dept and speak to their chaplain. He and other firemen can give him the kind of knowlege he needs to get thru this. I'm happy about your nephew and brother and I'm so sad for the other family.
sending thoughts and prayers your way.

The universe does not require that we succeed in every thing we undertake. It merely requires that we TRIED WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. It sure sounds like he did. Way to go boyo, I'll bet his momma's proud!

Your brother is a hero! All you can do is try your best and he did that. I am so glad your nephew and brother are ok! Give your brother a hug and tell him that some people think he's definitely a hero!

That is so scary. I am like your brother, I would have gone back in and had it happened that way, I would feel forever at fault for not saving the other boy.
Maybe try to help him seek couseling to understand that it wasn't his fault at all. I'm sure he'll need someone to talk to about all this.

Wow, I am so sorry for what your family has gone through and my prayers go out to your brother and the family of that child.
I agree that you need to have him speak to someone asap. The fire dept. chaplain is a great place to start. And the sooner the better.
