Default Help 3 year old has a fever

My 3 year old has a fever and is feeling very miserable. I've tried giving her childrens tylenol which she spits out, tried putting some with juice and she still spits it out.

I don't know how to get her to take some medicine. I even held her down and squirted some down her throat and she ended up throwing it back up simply because she does not like it. I don't know what an ER could do that I can't. Any suggestions please?

At 3 she can take the chewables. Have you tried those?

warp her lower legs with a damp towel. This works very quickly. And way more comfortable than a tepid bath.

Remember, unless your child has had seizures due to a high fever, that a fever is a healing mechanism for the body and not a bad thing to have. It's the body doing it's job. So keep her comfortable, the damp towel will help keep it lower, but not stop it completely.

We used to hide meds in Sunny Delight. It was nasty enough to cover up the meds taste.

If you can't get her to take her medicine maybe you should just let her be. As long as her fever isn't high enough to be dangerous than I'd just try to make her comfortable any way you can. No point in getting in a fight over her meds while she already feels bad. I used to drop my kids in a warm bath when they were sick and that made them feel better.

If there's anything that she absolutely loves but doesn't get normally (like soda or sunny delight) this may be the time to play that card.

The tylenol chewables are also good and my kids took them really well.

I hope she feels better soon.

She fell asleep. I'm going to buy chewables tomorrow. I just hate seeing her so miserable.

What other symptoms does she have?

Remember no cold/cough meds for the young ones now until age 6 (I think).
