Prices at Walmart
Now I usually don't check my receipt everytime I go grocery shopping, unless something warrents it. But a few months ago I happened to notice I was charged more than the listed price for a couple of items, no big deal I thought, the new price just wasn't in the computer yet. Then I started noticing a trend everytime I went in there. I talked about this to a girlfriend in a different state far away from my state.
On monday I went shopping and the same thing happened again. The potting soil I bought, 2 bags, was charged $1 more for each bag than what was listed at the pallet. I was also charged over on three other items, ranging from 25 cents and up. I went over to customer service and get the difference back, but then I'm thinking how much more are they overcharging? I can't remember every price that's suppose to be charged but I do remember some.
My girlfriend call me last night and before I mentioned my dealing with the prices, she told me she was having the same problems at her store. Now, like I said, I understand there can be honest mistakes but it seems the mistakes are getting to be more and more, but I do have to say I have been watching other stores and have only found one mistake from my local grocery store where an item was scanned twice, but that's been it.
So I think for now, I'm doing my business elsewhere, no wonder they have been the only company making a profit
Just wanted to give you a heads up to watch your prices, maybe the store you shop at is handled better than mine and my girlfriends.Daisy

I'm in PA and have shopped at several different Wal-Marts in the state during the past month and have not had such experiences. Thanks for the warning anyway.

We noticed that several years ago about Wal-Mart, which is one of the reasons we shop there as little as possible. The problem seems much more prevalent at Wal-Mart than anywhere else we shop.
As the old saying goes, it's easier to cheat a million people out of a dollar than one person out of a million dollars. Being the cynics we are, we believe these pricing 'mistakes' are too consistent to be accidental, and therefore must be part of Wal-Mart's business plan.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have had the opposite problem... Walmart prices are accurate, but the grocery flyers for the non-walmart, inaccurate! I go there expecting to stock up on a sale item only to find they aren't stocking that item or its a dollar more a pound. Where I am Walmart is the cheaper and more dependable store. I am sure there is a variety in the quality of the stores across the country, though.

I have had this problem repeatedly at Walmart. It is infuriating! It is a pain to have to go to customer service every time it happens, too. The last couple times I have let it go when it was like .10 - .25 cents. Why can't they just get the correct prices in their system?
I try to watch while they are ringing up the order because once it is totaled they just send you off to wait in line at customer service. Grrrr!
It is important to check your receipt at every store. I saw a report on TV once about the way stores are ripping off customers all the time and they don't even notice!

I find it depends upon which Walmart I go to (there are 2 very close to my house).
If I go the the NW one which is the closest one, I must watch everything. They are not the most gifted bunch there.
If I go to the SE one, they are more than helpful. They checkers are very up on the other stores sales and 1 will even stop me in the aisle and give me tips on the best buys for the week.

I try to check as things are being rung in everywhere - my money, my kuleana (job) to check.
Have had occasional overcharges at Walmart, thankfully caught at the register.... no more than elsewhere.
Walmart story - one Christmas season, we had done a lot of shopping at Walmart (before FV) and the cashier loaded our bags in the cart. When we got home, we found two bags of gifts that weren't ours. The Walmart people were shocked when we returned the bags!! Aren't people funny?Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Someone told me today that if the problem continues you can report the store to the states attorney general. It may be happening to lots of people and may not be so unintentional. (I don't just mean for WalMart either)

I would definetly ask to see a manager. It sounds like someone is not doing their job by changing prices on the shelves. it is the only way to get it resolved.

I don't know how it works in other states. In MI if the price is marked on the item and you are charged more. You get 10x the difference up to $5.00. So all you Michiganders check your receipts.

The first time I called Walmart out on an over-ring and went to the service desk to get my money they tried to argue with me that my purchase was not included in the scanner refund law. I had this idiot screaming at me that I was wrong. Well, I did contact the State Attorney General who in turn had the manager contact me as to how to make up for the mistake. I should have asked for more but I only requested that they give me what they owed me. Then guess what happened? They sent me the amount owed to me on a WALMART gift card! Needless to say, I almost never shop there anymore and I let them know it too!

Wal-marts around here (Ia) are pretty good about their prices. I have a couple of times been over charged for an item. The thing though is, it takes forever for a manager to come over and check it out and then send some other employee to go and check the price. Then you get this huge line of people behind you griping about you holding up the line. Which to some people a quarter or even a dollar might not be much but to someone who is trying to stay within their budge it is.

I try to pay attention when the cashier is ringing up things to catch mistakes then instead of having to go to the service desk to get something corrected. One product I buy at Walmart has been $ 3.67 for some time now. Last 2 times I have bought it, the shelf price says $ 4.14. Register rings it at the old price. I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie...... maybe the shelf price is wrong....I don't want to know. I'm bad, I know .........
