Default Anyone heard of such a thing as

an emergency personal loan? I am in a rock and a hard place and due to a death in the family, i am looking with my bank and such. I need to gather about 1000. And It has to be rather quick. Anyone know of any sources to find such a loan like that? Without crazy interest rates?

It's usually called a signature loan, and you can get one (normally) through your bank or maybe a local credit union.

I have no idea if you can get one right now. It usually requires a pretty good credit rating because it's considered unsecured debt, sort of like a one time credit card and has regular monthly payments.

If you own a home you can get a Home Equity Line of Credit. It is like a credit card. I had one once and it was great.

I would call around and see if anyone can help you. The banks around here are not allowing any kind of loans right now.

If your bank is not doing the unsecure signature loans right now, do you have a clear car title you could put up as collateral? If so, they may be more willing to do the loan. Sending prayers and hugs your way, sorry you are having to go through this.

Do NOT even THINK about it!!!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I echo the advice about payday loans. Those are predator sharks. And the places that give loans on your car titles aren't any better. Put it on a credit card, loathsome as that may be. Or ask friends/family for help. Or sell things. Home Equity loans are usually through a bank, so it is a little more stable than the sharks, but then you risk losing your home if you can't pay it back. Please...... be very careful. So sorry that you are in this position right now. Let us know how it goes.
