Best/Fav iPhone/iPod Touch Frugal App?
Or your best app in general? I've got a great expense app. For example I got iExpenseIt. So every time I buy something I add it in, record how I paid for it and what category it goes under then I can see where I went wrong or account for that expense in future (e.g., tax time expenses like extra paper and such).
So does anyone have their fav frugal app? (ideally free)
What about fav app in general?

Oh that sounds like a neat app. I will have to look for one on the Ipod. My son and I "share" his "birthday" present of the Ipod touch. I'm addicted to that thing! I haven't found any "frugal" Ipod apps yet but haven't really looked either! That will be my project for today! LOL

Well, the best ones are the free ones. For instance, I did get the Kindle for the iPod Touch and found out that Kindle has hundreds of books for free (there are also a lot that are under a dollar each). Given the portability of the iPod Touch compared to the Kindle that was a must have app for me.

I feel so behind the times. I used to be up on all the latest technology. Now that I moved back to the mountains my cell phone doesnt even get service. So it sits on my desk as an alarm clock. Most expensive monthly alarm clock I own. (120 a month for me and dh, which made sense when we lived in SC and had no landline and had unlimited long distance and no roaming to call home)...would love to dump this but the contract is binding and we can up the plan but not lower it...can cancel for 550 dollars.
I do have an ipod nano. my Dad gave it for my bday last year....I dont use it, I dont really know how to get anything onto it. Plus I have dial up and cannot get broadband so I cant download stuff.
I wanted an iphone when I saw them on tv then I decided i just better stop watching tv. LOL! But free apps sound great!!
ETA: I find that my world has shrunk considerably since moving back to the country (no local news even, lol, sattelite only), so now I think something like this would be useless to me....I couldnt use it at all! Now, thats frugal!Last edited by JustMegan79; 03-29-2009 at 09:31 AM. Reason: Im not awake yet and forgot what I wanted to write.

Yup. Go to iTunes and go to the Apps page. Then choose Books. It's the top free app. They also have a variety of free books listed and Kindle has some specials right now that even well known popular authors are having their books published and available for free (limited time but still worth it IMO)

DH wants an iPhone but eh, they're so bulky and overpriced. I'll keep my Sony Ericsson w810i until it breaks.

I have an Itouch second generation.
I use shopshop for grocery list. Its easy and makes the list so easy to complete. (one click addition to the list on items already bought)
So it semi automates creating your grocery list with minimal input.
(Free)
I also use an app called WiFinder to find wifi hotspots that are open wherever I am. Eliminates having to use an actual iphone. + it saves you from having to sign up with AT&T in a two year contract.
I bought a Microphone and use also Fring. (The mic was $10 at Target and Fring is a free app)
Allows me to connect to Skype and other instant messenger programs (AIM, MSN, Googletalk etc). I basically use the the Ipod Touch as a VOIP phone. (Skype is not free but for the cost of 3-5$ a month I can make outgoing phone calls without any roaming costs if I have wifi access)
There are a few others out there I like... but those are the main ones I used.

hrmm.. didn't know about the skype. That's good to know, however. I use it on my computer so why not on the ipod. It will require very stable network connectivity however.

There's an understatement. Apple wasn't kidding when they said there is an app for everything. Some cost but a lot of them are free and many of the free apps are worthwhile, IMO.
Re: Kindle app -- My dad sent me a gift certificate for Amazon and with that I was about to get 26 books. Had I got actual paper versions of them it would have cost about 5 times as much (!!!). This included books by Lama Das Surya, C++ programming book, a couple of David Bach's financial books, a book on food dehydration (contemplating a dehydrator for a bit before splurging on that), "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and a few recent fiction books (including Stephen King's UR).Last edited by Linus; 03-29-2009 at 05:16 PM.
