Thumbs up I love my library!!

Ok, this sounds weird or maybe geeky...but I hadn't been to the library in years.....Well since then they have completely expanded and renovated the library! It's amazing...I brought my kids along...they each got their very own library card today! And we can access all of our "accounts" online...see what we have out, and when it's due back, and we can request and renew our books online. They have a whole floor almost dedicated to children alone...and they aren't expected to be quiet, the kids wander around talk and have a good time finding new books to read...they also have a good staff who are willing to help the little ones find what they want to read. Everything was amazingly easy to find (2 floors worth of books and resources). I found all sorts of free community and library activities coming up in the next few months! I really had no idea what I was missing out on! The kids rented DVD's and Videos, they had music Cd's and everything! It was a really good experience and hope to make it a weekly or bi weekly event for our family! Libraries have come such a long way since I was a kid in an extremely small town!

I love my library too!! I have been bringing my fiance along, who likes to spend his time in the movie section picking out an old classic or some newer action war movie. ;-)

I love the magazines for treadmill reading, and of course lots of other books to read.

For many years I did not go to my library, now I cannot imagine my life without it!

Here's a great tip you may not know about - check out your library to see what's available. My local library has discounted visiting passes to local musuems and attractions. Last year my fiance and I took the day to go to the Mystic Seaport (in the next town over). Regular cost: $15 each (a guess) Cost to us? $0! Thanks to my local library!

    Cheers,
    Monica

I totally LOVE the library! Greatest thing ever invented. Our library branch is really nice. It was built next to and to coordinate with a nature trail/city park and has a playground on the premises. We check out movies, magazines, books and CDs from our library. They also have free internet access for those who don't have it at home. What a great service. For those who have not been lately, you are truly missing out.

congrats on your (re)descovery of your library!! Ours is tiny with very little parking and no one wants it moved. It has so much charm and is on the site of the queen's palace on the ocean front. No AC but great ocean breezes.

I wish our library ordered more of the new books. I have even requested their "buyer" purchase some that I have seen recommended in magazines, but she doesn't.... It makes me sad because spending full price on a book is just something that I can't make myself do anymore.

On the other hand, they have an awesome children's department with tons of stuff for the kids to play with. My son loves going there.

I love mine too. And I can suggest to order new books or older books if on Indigo/Chapters site Can. Its great. I love it too that I can go online and see when whats due or overdue plus its only 15c per item over due. Plus by looking on otyer websites ans finding your fav. author and certain series book marked I can go online libary and see if they have all those series.

When I was little, my dad used to take us to the library on his visitation weekends. I LOVED it. I love reading and, also, the libraries had AC.

I love, love, love my library too. I would live there if I could :wink2:

When we take out books, I put the due date on my Yahoo calendar w/a reminder so we don't forget.

My library has all sorts of children's programs and some for the adults too. They even loan out video games.

I have always loved the library. I just wish ours was bigger and had more to offer. We live in a very rural area so we are lucky to have a library at all. But they have very few movies and the ones they do have are really old. They have no music cd's to rent and you can't take the magazines out. They are also very very slow to get new books in. Sometimes I go in and wander for an hour and can't find a thing to read. I hate that! We can do inter-library loans of books from other libraries in WV and I take advantage of that alot. Our library is famous for getting in the first book of a series and never getting the rest of them. So I have to get them from other libraries.

My kids got library cards when they were old enough to sign their names. They have always loved to go there!

So addicted...I went back today I actually borrowed a DVD for my BF who is a teacher and is using it for his classroom...Also borrowed a music DVD for my oldest son...The Beatles...He loves them...Then I wandered and found two more books that I wanted...so I have 17 items out total now...I need to stop myself before I don't get a chance to read everything! I think 28 days is enough for my kids and I to get most of the stuff read, then I will renew what I don't....Oh I see a long addiction with this!

    I love my library too!
DD10 asks to go on a regular basis - and when we are less busy, we do. This time of year though, with all the school programs, recitals, & such, we have NO extra time.
She's all ready for the summer reading program though. Our library gives the kids GREAT prizes for that (DD "earns" her fast food treats during the summer program - they tend to give out lots of kids' meal coupons!)

    Default me too...

I love my local branch as well. It's pretty small but the whole lower floor (in the basement) is the kids section....tons of books, magazines, computers w/ games and internet access, cds, dvds, you name it! They have a fish tank my little one loves and a whole room full of toys, puppets, coloring, bean bags, letter boards and games to play with! So cool! And they have lots of monthly activities, too, like a knitting club and prescool art, which my son does every week.

    Libraries are great!
