Knitted socks, mitts, slippers are good sellers too. People really like homemade items. I think it is a great idea and good luck!

I would try it out cautiously. It probably depends on the farmer's market too. Ours here is very bare bones and the only things I've seen doing well are homemade noodles and jams. That could be my rural area though.

I would be looking for things to buy that serve a purpose, to fill a need. I would buy knit apparel, not sure about if I would buy knit socks and mittens in the summer - with the crappy, cold and snowy forever-long winter we're just coming out of, I don't want to even THINK about next winter just yet. I'm pretty stingy with my money and what I buy so it would be hard to get me to buy anything, I make just $7.50 an hour so I have to be stingy. I would not be interested in buying things just to have them sit there and be 'pretty', I don't do knick knacks or collect, so it would have to serve a purpose to me.
In thinking about next winter (if I must, lol), I would be inclined to buy handmade window quilts and draft dodgers, and ohhhh I want those knit dishcloths, over something to just sit and look nice.
I think the baby sweaters are a good idea, even in bad times it seems there is always a baby shower or some reason to buy baby stuff, and a hand-knit sweater would be nice.
Best of luck with your crafting and selling!

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I do craft fairs, but we have a farmer's market every Thursday afternoon, and I noticed last year (For the first year) that they were allowing crafters too and not just food vendors. I was thinking about trying it out.
But I think I will wait until after the first one and talk to some of the crafters and see how they do and see if it is worth it! The only thing I don't know, is if I have to pay for a spot for the entire season, or if I can just pick and choose certain weeks. I'll have to find out!

I am not sure. I think it depends on your area. I love homemade stuff. I wonder if there is anyone at the market with whom you could share a booth with for the first year until you see how well your stuff sells. Maybe find a farmer you know...

I'd try to share a table with someone else too if possible. During the summer maybe those cool wraps for necks? sort of a kerchief with rooting medium to stay cool. Keep in mind that it would be nice to have someone to share bathroom breaks with as well as costs of selling.
