I caved..........
I can NOT do without a washer for another month! I have done load after load in my tubs here, gone to the laundrymat once and spent 10.00,etc. I can NOT do it anymore! I am wearing myself out and still can't keep up. Sears has a great sale this weekend and I want a washing machine. So I caved this morning and called out little bank here. They are so great to help us out and we build great credit at the same time.
They are giving me the money, no questions asked on an 8 week note. I will have it all paid back by the end of May when I start getting paid on a regular basis. So I'm going today to get my washer!
I HATE to do it, but I can not do without a washer while I'm working. There just is not enough time in the week to work, do all the household stuff, keep up with dh and the kids, run errands, cook and do laundry by hand or run to the laundrymat. I wanted so badly to just hang on until the end of May when I would have the money and not have to take out a loan but I just can't. I am a weak, weak woman!

Dont feel bad. As long as you pay it off when you are supposed to everything should be fine. I spent several years going to the Laundry mat all the time and spent a ridiculous amount of money. I could have bought a used or new washer with what I spent at the laundry mat, but I was in a rental and didnt have a washer hook up.
Edited to add: Sherri, I have always wondered if you live near me. I am about 18 miles from the WV line, bordering Pocahantas Co WV, in Bath County, VA in the Allegheny Mtns.Last edited by JustMegan79; 04-10-2009 at 09:25 AM. Reason: just being nosey

I don't blame you one bit! Getting everything done and doing laundry at the laundrymat, while you are getting used to going back to work...I would have caved and bought a new one too!
Hopefully you can find a great deal!

To bad you don't live near me. I have a washer but no washer hook up so my washer is sitting in a garage
It is inconvenient and time consuming to go elsewhere to do laundry

You made a good call, washing all those clothes in the tub and wringing them out by hand is a lot of work. You had a great idea originally but for practicality you made the right decision. Enjoy your new washer

I couldn't imagine not having a washing machine and having to do it all by hand. I'm amazed you went without one for as long as you did. I'm glad you found a washing machine at Sears on sale.

I feel that what you did is a NEED for your family. It would be different if you had one and wanted a different color or a better style.. Enjoy..

I can't believe you lasted this long. Going without a dryer is one thing, but a washer...I can't say I'd do it. I think you will not only save time but money. Going to the laundromat is not cheap and you won't be using gas. Doing the happy dance with you.

I don't know how you lasted as long as you have ~ I would have made it about 20 minutes without one!

You are not a weak woman at all, you are a SMART woman for already knowing that keeping up with the laundry while working and life in general is not going to happen. Good for you!!!

Well I found a nice Kenmore at Sears on sale for 324.89. It's just exactly what I want. Lowe's had them in an off brand I have never heard of and they were more expensive. Sears tried to overcharge me too. The paper I got said 360.99 but an extra 10% off today through Monday. She charged me 360.99. Then the sale ads they had in the store did NOT have that machine in them! She said I know we had one because I looked at it this morning. She had no idea how to just take 10% off. So they looked and looked and finally found the ad. Then she said they had to find a bar code sale poster and print it out so she could scan the code! I stood there and stood there and finally the owner came in. He got all snotty with me when she showed him the ad and said "did you bring this ad in here with you"? I said no I did not and told him it was the one that came in my local paper though. The girl told him they had it there and he rang me up correctly. I was so mad I thought "just challenge me buddy and watch how fast I drive to Lowe's and pay more for one!" UGH!
Dh just got it home and he's attempting to hook it up now. Wish me luck, you remember he's Tim the Tool Man LOL! He is actually reading the directions if you can believe that!Last edited by WV_mom_of2; 04-10-2009 at 03:39 PM.

You know it really wasn't that bad. I could do two to three loads a day until I started working. But working three days a week then trying to do it by hand was just too much.
However, I know that if I ever HAVE to do it that way, I can. And the kids both helped me so they know how to do it if they need to in the future!S

I'm glad you got one, with kids and a job you needed it.Besides the interest at the local bank can't be that much.I know it's not very much here, alot better than using a credit card. The small local banks are the best places to get a loan anyway because they know you.

Don't feel bad! I baked everything from scratch all week (family of 8), and caved today and headed to the bread store. We just can't do it all!
Do you have anything you could sell to raise some extra funds to pay off your loan?
