What was the cashier thinking????
Ughhh I went yesterday to pay off my Lowe's account cause if I hadn't they would have tacked on 205 dollars after 5pm !!!! It was my washer... had one year no interest if it was paid off on 4/10! Sooo we had a rough begining of the year and i still had 900 dollars to pay it off.. well i really didn't need them adding 205 dollars added on that ughh .. sooo i found the money some how and paid the sucker off... well I did it at our local store so it would for sure be there before 5pm and as I pay .. she asks... do you have some other shopping to do now that you have more credit???? I am like what!!!!!! I just paid it off and you want me to go in the store and put money on it now??? I was umm no thanks .. gonna go home and not spend any more money today!!! My head about exploded thinking does she do that ??? Pay something off then imediatly put more on the card??? Ughhh I think its my frugal coming out cause i think it wasn't too long ago i had that same thinking !!!

Good for you and yes she probably does that. It's why some of us are here. It's why our country is in the sad shape it's in now. People have not learned that having a credit card doesn't mean you have to use it. Having money burns holes in a lot of pockets. Thanks to this forum more of us are learning to be responsible, smart consumers and savers.

Well that cashier doesn't have the frugal mindset does she? If she did she probably would have said something like... "good for you for paying it off!" Oh well, I would hate to see her bills.

Chances are is that she is "required" to ask you that. I don't think it says anything of her personally.

Yeah, my thoughts too. Her job is to help customers spend more than they need to, she was trained to suggest and put the idea of shopping into your head.
Kudos to you for getting the money together though, $900 smackeroos is a lot to come up with on short notice.

Yup! It's a job requirement and not a personal reflection. Same as McD's asking if you want fries with that or if you want to supersize your order. The employee doesn't care. They just have to ask.

My brother is doing some work on his house. He makes a qualifying purchase at Home Depot to get the interest free loan and pays it off before they charge him the interest. He immediately makes another interest free qualifying purchase and so on and so on.
He is improving his home as he can afford to and not racking up any finance charges.

Congratulations on getting interest free products!!! We did the same last year with computers. We all really have to watch the payments - but then again, being aware is part of my reality/responsibility/life as a FV. Mahalo for sharing!!

The cashier was attempting to entice you into spending money in the store she represents. SHe asks for the same reason that the cashiers pimp out their store cards---it's part of their job requirement.

I bought a new washing machine on Friday and the owner of the store ended up ringing me up. He asked me THREE times "don't you want the dryer too so you will have a matching set?" I know it's his job to sell, sell, sell but ask me ONCE and if I say no, then leave it alone!
Congrats on paying it off before they added interest and for standing your frugal ground!S
