126 dollar oil change??
yup, thats what i shelled out today. i had a coupon for my oil change and tire rotation for 50 bux. since it was my 45000 mile checkup, they were going to inspect it, fill all my fluids and rotate the tires but i told them i also needed my wipers replaced since they were ripped and it was raining cats and dogs today.
those freaking wipers cost me 70 dollars! 33 dollars for one, 21 for the other and 16 dollars labor for installing them!! and according to other mechanics ive talked to, i cant get my particular wipers anywhere but the dealership. needless to say, i was BEYOND ticked.

I'd be ticked too! Wow...
I could have changed your oil, blades and checked all your fluids for the cost of parts, $10 and a can of pop.

My dealer also told me that same thing about my wipers. What they should have said was "you can only get these MAZDA brand wipers at dealerships but hey...any of those wipers at Canadian tire, walmart, and car shops will also work".
My brother is a mechanic and all his car friends and him swear by the Walmart version of the Reflex wiper (the kind that just kind of flex to the window...there's no "hinge-y thing).Last edited by frugal.lass; 04-17-2009 at 08:05 PM. Reason: typo!

Look on the bright side.... you now have the Rolls Royce of wipers! I'd put the price tags back on them and use them even when the sun shines!

Then I'd learn to DIY for next time...

well IF i could get those wipers anywhere else i would, but seeing as how i cant... i didn't mind the 50 dollars for the oil change since the tires were balanced/rotated also. something i really cant do myself either.
edited to add: after doing some research, i have come across 1 place that carries this type of wipers and they still want 40 bux for them! and thats not including s/h.Last edited by halloweenfreak; 04-18-2009 at 11:43 PM.
