Storms are keeping me up and you
God must be mad and moving his furniture around or bowling, so I was told.

Gah, storms freak me out. Anyone up?

Yes, I was up but we don't have cable, internet or phone from the storms. We're not w/o power but across the street the is (we're on seperate boxes) and the generators have been droning on for 2 days. Yes, storms freak me out. We have a huge oak tree between the two houses thats top heavy and I don't have the money to cut it. We have a huge pine tree in front that worries me too. At least this time my husband is home to help,I don't have to flush the toilet w/ a bucket or charge my cell phone in the car. I don't even mind cooking on the BBq in the rain w/ a flashlight but I hate the wind and being cold.

Ew, what nasty weather! We got a little rain Saturday, but nothing much. Sounds like y'all got it far worse. frugalwarrior, I know what you mean about hating to have storms and no electricity when your DH is away -- I'm the same way and even little things, like not being able to see where I'm going or having trouble finding a flashlight, make me feel like a big scaredy cat!

Our nasty weather started last night. Everyone else could sleep but I am a light sleeper so every time the dog wimpered or the cats would fuss I was up. Sounds like it is tapering off a little this morning.

It's been SO hot here this weekend. It got up to 88 yesterday which is just unheard of here in April. It's supposed to be in the 80's today and tomorrow and then we have a chance for those storms the rest of the week. Glad everyone is ok!

I feel for ya, being anxious in a thunderstorm.
I'm the type that when it's thundering and lightening, I feel soooooo groggy and fall right to sleep. If a crack of thunder slightly wakes me, I smile and nod back off. I find them so relaxing. We even have a 'thunderstorm' audio tape that we pop in when we can't sleep. Weirdness, Inc., right?

I can TOTALLY relate! I have gotten to the point that I hit panic mode when it starts to thunder, lightning, and/or rain. I have lived here all by life. It is just getting worse and worse. I guess it is global warming.
We live VERY near the Texas Gulf Coast (south side of Houston, Texas). We have had torrential rains, flooding, and power outages TWICE in the last week. There has never been water in the houses on our street, but long time neighbors said the water came up FASTER these last two times than ever before (halfway up in the yard between the street and house).
The first heavy rain was predicted; so we were as ready as possible. The second one was out of the blue and not predicted at all. Both times we got 7+ inches of rain in less than 2 hours and had power outages for hours.
We have the possibility that it might happen AGAIN today. So far the radar looks like it will stay north of us.Mary
