    Default Gah!! vac exploded

So Ihere I am cleaning away. Getting the house tidyied up. Have a friend coming over in...like an hour and a half or so...and a houseguest coming over for 8 days or so..and I am on the last thing on the list. Vacuuming. And what happens?? the vacuum explodes. The hose is blocked by something (yes, i am tearing it apart to fix it.) Dirt, crud...everywhere. Nice huh??

Eeek! Sounds messy! I hope you get everything figured out and working in time. Maybe you can borrow a neighbour's vacuum (maybe offer to buy them vacuum bags in exchange) to get the house cleaned up before your friends arrive??

I'm attempting to live by the principles of The Compact in 2012. Wish me luck!

    2012 Financial goals
    • make an extra $15k over and above any flying pay (1705/15000)

I tore it down and found out this one little collection cup COMES OFF the regular collection cup part. It has a filter in it. This filter needs t o be removed and cleaned often. I never have. I have had this machine over a year....ahem. When I cleaned that, got the clod out of the hose and got it put back together...it tried to suck the color out of my carpet (saying it's back to regular strenght, strong suction again). It works wonderful now that i got that done. Can we say DORK?!!

Girl, you have more trouble with your sweepers! You were having trouble the last time I was going to California, and I thought about dropping one by. If this one goes t!ts up, let me know. I am going to California in two weeks. I will bring you one.

Remember the sweepers that you could take the hose and put it in the other end of the sweeper and blow out the hose or blow up swimming pools and punch balls and ......oh I could go on and on. Ah me thinks I better quit I'm showing my age here.

I sympathize. Once I vacuumed up one of my DS's caps...you know the old red strips that go into cap guns...he was like 7 years old (now 19yr) and the bag started on fire! Those things were dangerous! Or maybe it is just me....

I am sorry your having a bad day with the old "electric Broom". I can't tell you how many times I have vaccumned up sweat socks or milk ring s the cat stole or hair ties, plastic straws. One time I ran over the cord and stredded it because the plastic cowling on the bottom was chipped, unbeknowst to me of course. You should switch to a plastic cup vaccumn and you could see whats being sucked up.
I guess I have to say on several counts it has been a snarky day in general. Hope you at least had a good visit.

Oh, ew -- I had something similar happen to me once with my old vac when I was cleaning my old apartment and getting ready to move in my house. Just as I was finishing up the den, it began spewing dirt and kitty litter granules instead of sucking them up, and my landlord was due to inspect the place at any moment! I. Had. A. Cow. Luckily, my good friend brought her vac over, but I completely understand your dilemma!
