Default Wii.. would like to play... maybe

What do you guys ythink about the Wii?

It's pretty spendy for the initial outlay, but the games seem really good. We had the whole family over at a friend's house and ended up playing it for hours. Now we all want one. Even DH thinks it's "awesome!"

The one we played on was the Wii Fit. And we all like the balance board and the games. But jeez it really is a LOT of money for a toy.

Do you think it might replace the gym membership?

I believe buying a Wii was one of the best investments I have made! It gets the kids UP OFF the couch and me as well...lol! I bought my Wii Fit off ebay, so it wasn't near as expensive as buying new and works just as well.

We love our Wii, but admittedly, no longer play as much as we did when it was new. Wii Fit and Wii Sports are our favorites, although dd and ds1 have logged in many hours on Wii music, as well. I think it was well worth the money. As for replacing a gym membership? I wouldn't go that far. The intensity isn't as great as you'd get with traditional exercise, however, if you aren't doing any exercise currently, then it is an improvement!

We love the wii. We often play different games on it as a family. I like how it gets the kids off the couch, yet gives them the chance to play video games like most kids their ages love to do. As for it replacing a gym membership, I think that would depend on how athletic you are. I think the wii is great for those that have been living a rather sedentary life, but I don't think it delivers as much of a workout as I get off of my ellipical trainer. One thing I have noticed for me with the wii is improvement in my balance. I am triple jointed in one hip, so my center is always off and has been an issue with lower back pain for as long as I can remember. The balance games have helped me improve my center of balance and I don't have as much back pain as I have had for years.

We love the Wii! And, this is from someone who never really cared for video games. The whole family really does use it. My 4 year old is able to work it herself which is great and they are not sitting around playing it, they have to move. I really like that there are games that the whole family can play together at the same time and enjot themselves. I do not think it would replace a gym membership. We got ours at BJ's and we got a bundle package that included the 3 games, these are the ones we play the most so if you got that you could avoid spending a ton on games at first. Also, depending on the ages of your children there are a lot of $20 games for the Wii, they are not all over $40 like the Xbox games and so forth.
