Oh no! You might be able to find a roofer to come out and at least try to find the leak and put a tarp on it, before you get all the rain. DH was a roofer for years, and spent many rainy days tarping up roofs for emergencies!

Do this: go to a home store and buy wet-r-dry roof patch. It comes in a silicone tube so you will need a caulking gun. Each tube would cost $ 3- $5 and you can get a few. A caulking gun is like $4. The roof patch ...make sure it says " for wet or dry" application. It is hard to see where it leaks when it is dry. So if you miss a spot; you could use this product even while is raining. Be careful now and don't fall off the roof. With a little patience you can fix your roof for less than $ 30. And this product would last a couple of months. There are generic brands as well..just make sure its good for wet or dry application.

oh no, I'm paranoid about that happening to me. If you have any tarps I suppose you could use those for a week or so.

How big of a leak and is the leak entering living space?

You could try just getting some roofing tar (a gallon will last a lifetime for repairs, less if you do a replacement on your own someday) and tarring where you think the leak is. Can you access the attic during rain to see where the leak is coming from the roof?

A gallon of tar should be about $5. In a pinch, a semi-flexible spatula that you're willing to sacrifice will work to apply the tar. Be generous with the tar - you don't want to go up there again for the same leak.

    Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your roof. There are some good suggestions there.

It got me thinking about our roof repair preparations. Rather than hijack this thread, I posted a new thread in the Preparedness forum.

Nana, we once had a leak and my husband was able to also fix it with roof tar. I hope y'all are able to fix it without too much trouble.
